0321- Out of Sight, Out of Mind

"So who is it?" Emily asks Spencer as Aria, Emily and I stand around Spencer.

"We should wait for Hannah." Spencer says looking around the three of us.

"No, this is too important to wait." Aria tells her.

"Okay." Spencer looks up. "But you guys need to know that I've been warned not to tell you."

"What else is new?" Aria shakes her head.

"Wait a minute." Emily says grabbing our attention. "You knew who it was before tonight?" Emily asks her.

"Yeah. I've know for a few weeks." She says.

"You've been keeping this for a few weeks?" I ask her.

I can't believe it. This could've been solved weeks ago and she hasn't said anything about it till now.

"Why didn't you tell us any sooner?" Aria asks.

"I wanted to be sure. I didn't want to believe that it could be true, but after tonight happened, I can't keep this to myself anymore." She tells us.

It's someone we know?

I'm on the edge of my seat. I need to know.

"Toby is A."

WHAT THE FUCK?????

I look at her to be sure but it's all over her face.

"I never would've seen that coming." I mutter.

Spencer tells us the story about their anniversary and how she caught him and just how truly gut wrenching it is for her.

I can understand why she waited because that's got to be one of the worst betrayals we've had, and we've had a lot happen to the five of us.

"So what are we saying? That what Ali wrote in Emily's notebook was true? That Toby secretly hated us ever since Ali threw that firecracker I. His garage?" Aria asks.

"Yeah, I guess so." Spencer says, not looking up.

"And the whole time that you two... were together, he was just pretending?" Aria asks.

Fucking hell, relentless.

"Okay, we all know how much Toby loves you. This can't be true. There has to be more to the story." Emily tells Spencer.

"If he loved me, he would not have let me sit outside his loft balling my eyes out for hours. He wouldn't have taken everything out of 'A's lair when he knew I had the key. He wouldn't be trying to hurt me... us." Spencer finally looks at someone, that someone being Emily and she looks so angry and defeated.

She tilts her head back down and starts crying.

"I'm so sorry Spence." Aria comforts.

"This is so shit." I tell her.

"Mona must have something over him." Emily says. When I look over at her, her eyes are glassy.

I get her and Toby were friends so this had to have affected her as well but also she's saying all this to the one person it's affected the most and it's not needed right now. We don't need a reason as to why he's doing it now, we need to be there for Spencer and figure out how to stop it.

"Trust me, I have tried to come up with every possible explanation as to why he could be doing this, and it all leads back to the same conclusion." Spencer takes her head out of her hands to look at Emily.

"The Toby I know would never do anything to hurt any of us." Emily cries.

She really is not doing this right now is she?
