"I don't understand." Spencer says flicking through the page of that journal. "I don't recognise any of these names."
"Because she changed them. She was changing stories, too. You just have to know the real stories in order to recognise the fake ones." Hannah tells us.
"Sounds like Ali." Emily says bitterly. "The truth bored her."
"So it's like creative non-fiction with pseudonyms?" Spencer questions.
"I don't know what that means, but sure." Hannah nods.
"Hannah, I can't believe that you held on to this since Ravenswood." Aria shakes her head.
"We knew that Ali had journals. What's so bad about this one?" Spencer asks.
"Because the stories in there, they're... they're personal." Hannah looks down.
"Personal about Ali?" Spencer asks.
"About Ali and us." Hannah confirms. If there's anything about me in there I really, really, don't want to know.
"There are things in there that we may not know about each other, and things from the past that we want to forget." Hannah says.
"So you thought that you should get to read it, and we don't?" Emily questions with some sort of passive aggression.
"I just didn't see the point of bringing all that up again. We're supposed to be focused on finding Ali!" Hannah exclaims.
"That's not your call to make." Spencer argues.
"Woah." I say as the tension starts to rise, this is getting a bit heated.
"I know. I made a mistake!" Hannah exclaims.
"And it took you till now to realise that?" Emily questions.
Fucking hell.
"Em, I said I was sorry!" Hannah defends.
"Did you?" Spencer jumps back on.
"Okay! Guys! All right." Aria jumps in. "The most important thing is that we have this now. Okay, Hannah, you said there are stories in here about Ali. What about Board Shorts or someone else who might have been after her?"
"There might be. I don't know. I just couldn't put all the pieces together on my own." She admits.
There's something wrong with her, I can tell, and it's not that she just argued with Emily and Spencer.
"So this is what we do, we each take turns, we'll weed out the stories about us and see what's left over." Emily tells us.
Oh hell no. I don't want to read anything about me or Logan from that time.
"Who goes first?" Spencer holds out the journal.
Not me, in fact I'm going to go last.
"I do." Emily snatches it out of her hands, before anyone else has the chance.

During my free period, I find Spencer and Aria in the corridors and we make our way to join Emily in the courtyard who is reading the journal.
"Hey." We say as we sit down.
"Hey." She says back.
"Is it a page turner?" Spencer asks about the journal.
"Yesterday I could barely make it through the first story, that was about me." Emily admits.
"What changed?" Aria asks.
"I want answers. From Ali, from this book, I'll take them anywhere I can get them." She tells us.
