I have a few ideas for this; multiple all about angst and such. Just heads up.

Anyway

Things to note:

Joel is in fact an 11 foot god

Jimmy is not a toy, he's just...smol

He's also  a Canary so he has birb aspects

Grian and Jimmy are not related biologically, but they're close enough they may as well be related anyway.

*Joel has just hit Jimmy with the Lore Potion. Jimmy Birb instincts do not like the immense size difference, and he gets scared.*

"Joel!" Jimmy cries in protest, bringing his hands up in front of his face. The taller man cackles, shadow looming over him–no, wait, it's getting bigger. No, Jimmy's getting smaller. That's what's happening. "Awww, now you really are toy-sized!" Joel booms, voice louder than the claps of thunder he'd often use to announce his presence. The smaller man winces, and Joel crouches, getting down on both knees to tower over his tiny Servermate. "Joel, what–" Jimmy swallows thickly, throat bobbing nervously as he tries to keep his Avian instincts in check. They don't like that he's small, they don't like that Joel's so massive he could probably fit and crush him in one hand, and call it anxiety, he's wary of the very expression on the God's face. "What did you do to me?" He demands, hoping Joel can even hear him. If his voice is deafening to Jimmy, how audible is his own? "What do you mean? I just showed what you really looked like. It was a Lore Potion." Joel replies, feigning innocence. Jimmy edges a little further away. Either Joel saw how he'd cringed when he first spoke, or made a correct assumption, but he'd given the canary Hybrid the grace enough to lower his voice. Still a bit rumbly and crackly with thunder and lightning, but it no longer hurts Jimmy's far more sensitive ears. "Well whatever it is, fix it! I don't want to be the size of someone's hand! It makes me feel like a–" Jimmy cuts himself off, the wide grin splitting across Joel's face and his own realization making him unwilling to finish the sentence. "Oh? Like what, Jim? Like a doll? A little toy?" Joel moves closer as he speaks, reaching out his hand to presumably pick him up. It's in that moment his highly anxious instincts kick in and he gives a fearful chirp, flaring his wings and ducking behind them like hiding will make the problem go away. He isn't a fighting Hybrid species; he's got more luck running away than attacking the threats. While he hates it, this is just the fact of his Hybrid species. Technically, Grian's the same way. But Grian's...Grian. Never once has he been what he's supposed to be, always breaking the box of expectations to be free and be...just himself. Perhaps Jimmy envies that, a little bit, in this moment here, as Joel hesitates on account of the sound. "Was that a chirp? Did you just chirp, Jimmy? Didn't know you could do that." Joel observes, still evidently having fun with himself, however he lowers his hand, and shockingly, leans back. "Well, Jim, as fun as it was playing with you, I have God business to do. I'll be seeing you later, though." He announces, getting up, spreading his own wings, and leaping into the air in an immense cloud of dust. "You still have to fix...me..." Jimmy shouts after him, trailing off once he realizes the God is out of hearing range. He didn't expect him to have listened, anyway. Once Joel has an idea in his head, he's quite stubborn to make sure it sticks.

*Joel >:(*

*Norman sees smol Jimmy and cannot understand how the human who gives him plenty of treats, belly rubs, and affection smells and sounds exactly like this small, weird bird thing he's just come across*

"Mrrrow?" Jimmy pauses, then slowly turns to see Norman coming up to him. The normal part of his brain sees him and goes, 'oh, it's just Norman.' However, his Canary Hybrid brain sees a massive cat, and immediately freaks out. Cats eat small birds, and what is he?
