Gonna put an arachnophobia warning here for spider monster person

Sooooo I'm still hyperfixating on The Magnus Archives and at one point we meet a woman named Annabelle Cane. She's really cool and I love her.

Long story short,  she does spider things right and turns into a giant spider monster person so I went "let's draw it" and so I did

(I had poorly attempted to draw her in a more human way before, so I figured why not add this as well, but it gives a bit of an idea about how I wanted monster her to look) legs and hands are hard 😭

I knew I wanted her to have three fingers and so I tried to replicate the sketch I made in the top left corner of the page...I won't waste time telling you how many attempts it went through but here's most of what I'd intended of it. Her whole schtick I think was trying to be dramatic and I don't think she actually wanted to hurt anyone, so I was trying to make her look scary, but also just cool. My brain was like "black widow-tarantula" since black widows are deadly but pretty, and tarantulas are usually pretty chill and big so that was the only real guideline I had. Couldn't seem to find enough fanart to base off of either so I sincerely apologize to any TMA fans who thinks I did this wrong.

It took me multiple days to try and figure out how to draw her legs. Even now I'm not very happy(look at those extra handsssss 😫) but i eventually just went "okay brain it's all yours" and let my hand move where it wanted to and where the eyes seemed to think they should go. I was gonna make the black widow hourglass thing be a part of her but then decided maybe it'd be cooler if it were part of her dress and that's why you can see the lines where it was once a full thing but I erased it. I also decided I wanted to do the trick I did with my Marquis drawing, the one I did wayyyy back in the very first chapter of this book: I blacked out her eyes but left two spots of light bcs I felt it'd be more fitting than the slitted ones she had previously.

Some people had come over to see what I was drawing at the time and when I showed them were like "wth is that" and I think I concerned them. One of the caretakers(we were at the hospital at the time, in a communal housing so there were lots of people and families there) told me they liked it tho and my friends who came with me gave their mark of approval so I hope you guys like it, too. I enjoyed making her hair the most, mostly thinking of what fanart of her I did see and Ekko from Arcane, and I always knew I wanted to give her mandibles. Now, in terms of size, I wanted her to be BIG. Dramatic and all, right? So to put this into perspective, the palm of one of her hands(maybe think of the hand I sketched in the previous image, top left corner of the picture) is as big as an average like, 5'9" male's chest. She can easily pick someone up in one hand.

Anyway that's all for now; gonna go digitize it but I think I used the wrong brush so I have to redo the lines- *internal screaming*

However if anyone has any tips or advice/ideas on how I could have drawn this better, feel free to share them! I've never drawn spider people before so I'm pretty new at it

Have a good day and I'll try to see if I can get back to making jokes of the day on the regular again :)
