*it shatters on the floor*
Oh no! Our canon! It's broken!
Hey guys here's a fun game: let's see if you can tell whether I wrote something at 11:00 PM or at 3:00 PM! *I say while clearly sick and tired*
Upon arriving safely back in Oakhearst, the men are instantly swept up by Sausage and Apo, both of whom had been especially worried once even Scott and his troop had made it back before they did. It's nearly dawn, now.
"What took you guys so long? We thought something happened to you!" Apo asks, hands on their hips. Renhardt had expressed his hesitation about telling the other two about Scott being a Vampire, because if they said too much, they could give away what Ren is and put him in danger. Martyn promised to be very careful about what he said, and after going over several versions of possible explanations, the man had allowed him to mention Scott chasing him and his Vampiric status. The Werewolf can explain himself, and Martyn doesn't need to say much about what happened after the men found each other. He couldn't tell them nothing. Ren may not be here to save absolutely everyone, but Martyn isn't honor-bound by some ancient code so he sure can(or at least try).
"Well, uh, after I lost Apo, I found Scott, Shelby, Owen, and Pyro fishing on the beach, so I went over and talked with them for a while. Then Scott left, and I decided to go look for him to see if he did anything Vampiric. In the end, though, he found me." Martyn starts, catching the warning glance that Renhardt gives him and doing his very best not to make a face of his own. They went over this several times! He knows what he's doing! "Now, I don't want to jump to conclusions too quickly, but I–Scott chased after me, right, and so I started running. Not like 'ha-ha, this is a joke', but an actual pursuit. He probably would have caught me if Ren hadn't shown up. Scott disappeared at that point; I think having to deal with two of us wasn't a confrontation he wanted to have." Sausage shifts in place, frowning in consideration as Apo now crosses their arms. "I think...that Scott's a Vampire. Or–if he isn't that, then something decidedly not human and not friendly. I'm not saying Avid was completely right, but I think he's definitely on to something because that was not normal, human behaviour." The boy states, keeping his voice low to avoid being overheard. Do Vampires have super hearing? What about Ren? His ears look normal. Apo makes a thoughtful noise, turning to Renhardt. "And what do you have to say about all this? How did you manage to find Martyn?" She questions. The Werewolf dips his head, keeping his palms covered as he speaks. The red marks haven't changed. Apparently silver burns are permanent, and while they do lose that angry red color and fade to actual scar hues, it takes a long time.
"Well, I had noticed that Mr. Woodhearst was no longer with you as you arrived with young Avid, so I paused to see where he was, don't'cha know. Figured he'd been a few minutes behind ya. Then I heard ye say you didn't know where he'd went. So, I waited a little more. Before I knew it, I had lost the three of ye as well and still seen no sign of the boy. All on me own in the woods, I started wandering and searching for him. Some time after–the specifics be lost to me, for I cannot track the time as well as I once did–I came across Martyn, running from something and claiming Scott was after him. I never saw the nobleman meself, but the boy was clearly in a state of fright." He replies, gesturing to Martyn once or twice. Normally, the blond would have argued or tried to disprove the fact he was scared, but not this time. Martyn's said his piece, Ren hasn't been implicated in anything, and they made it home safely. He's too tired to object. In any case, Sausage and Apo accept these stories and move on to the concept of Scott being inhuman and what that means exactly about Avid's claims. Martyn isn't going to tell Avid that he believes him just yet(though he'll have to eventually), both because he's a bit wary of how the paranoid man will respond, and he doesn't want to actually admit he was right.
