Syd and Remus froze, hearing eachother's racing hearts they turned to face the boy at the bottom of the stairs.
The boy stared profusely, the look of shock never wavering from his face. "Peter wanted snacks..." He said pointing to the bowls of snacks left from Remus' birthday. "But I'm gonna make my remark again of WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK." He aborted the idea of helping Peter and his late night cravings and instead seated himself firmly in the middle of the couch. "This could be a problem." Syd whispered quietly to Remus, ensuring James couldn't hear them. "I know, do we trust him?" He leant in closer to her. "I'd rather you didn't kiss again instead of telling me what in the seven shades of shit is going on" he said like a moody toddler. Syd rolled her eyes before turning on her heel and taking a seat by the fire place. Remus did the same on the other side of James.
"What do you want to know?" Remus said, resting similarly to Fleamont in his leather chair. "How long?" James demanded, crossing his legs. "Not long, right Remus." Syd nodded at the boy reassuringly. He nodded back. "And how serious is this? If you break eachother's hearts I'll be annoyed." James crossed his arms sassily. Remus sighed and pushed himself further back into his seat trying to avoid the conversation the two had put off. "We'll let you know when we get round to that conversation." He chuckled. "James, you swear to me you won't tell anyone, not yet anyway." Syd said, suddenly becoming very urgent and demanding. James almost looked hurt, "you know I'm the best secret keeper there is." Syd nodded. "Now can you make out so I can witness however many moments I've missed?" He clapped like a small child. Syd rolled her eyes. "You absolute pervert." Remus chuckled again and stood up. "Don't forget Peter's snacks." She pointed to the bowls James had nearly left behind in his moment of shock. The boys grabbed the lot before disappearing up the stairs after wishing the girl goodnight.
"Nice one." James whispered as he and Remus climbed the stairs. "What do you mean?" Remus questioned as he ran a hand through his ever growing hair. "I mean nice one, Syd's perfect for you."
"Awe you little softie." Remus op Ned their bedroom door to both of their other dorm mates passed out. "That Muppet wanted snacks and now he's dead to the world." James commented as he nudged Peter with his foot. "You got all your swear words out for the month in the span of 5 minutes I see." Remus stalked over to his bed and opened his curtains. "The year more like." He retorted and pulled his sheets back.

"When do you think they'll be here?" Syd asked Brodie and she grabbed his wrist for the third time that minute. She watched as the hands on his watch ticked round. "Sirius will probably be late from quidditch practice Syd. There's no need to worry." He rubbed her back reassuringly. Syd was growing impatient, she'd arranged this family meet up expecting neither of them to show up as hatred brewed between Regulus and Sirius. Syd had brought Brodie along as a bribe for Sirius to come however she didn't have that power over her younger brother. "Here." Brodie said pointing a finger in the direction of the quidditch pitch.
They watched from under the old oak tree as Sirius handed James his broom and wandered over. James left in the direction of the castle much to Syds pleasure. Even though it's nearly been a week since Remus and Syd's sit down with James, he'd been weird with the pair. Oggling them anytime they were in the same room, making dumb comments, generally being James really. Which meant Syd and Remus had spent all week avoiding James' weirdness and therefore eachother.
"Glad your here." Sirius said ruffling his boyfriend's hair before sitting down next to him. "Not like Reg to be late." He commented which made Syd's face turn sour. She couldn't understand why her two brothers had practically turned on eachother. Syd knew Sirius didn't understand or know Regulus like she did but the hatred had become too much. The younger boy finally appeared and hurried down the path leading to the tree. "Why are you late?" Sirius snapped. Regulus rolled his eyes and dropped his bags at his feet before sitting next to them. "For your information my class ran late. Bring it up with slughorn if your so damn concerned."
"Enough." Syd said quietly. She hated the bickering, the constant squabbles. "Why do you even hate eachother so much?" She questioned a little louder than she intended. Then it began, the shouting. Syd looked through the to boys and at Brodie and shot him an apologetic look as the pair shouted at eachother. "YOU! You left us!! I'll admit it was my choice to stay this time when you left the first time it was us who did the work. Not even a thank you. You bloody coward!!" Regulus got up. "Least I don't hide behind a gang of boot kissers! Oh dark lord let me do your bidding. Get some sense regulus and break say for them before it's too late."
"Oh so now your playing the part of the Caring older brother. 16 years too late you moron."
"Speaking of your fucking cronies." Sirius pointed over his brothers shoulder to a group of Slytherins and Griffindors.
