<Gyroscopic stabilisers checked>

Sal sat inside the cockpit of the Nu Gundam, which was spherical, unlike the rectangular and cramped one of the RX-78-2. And the biggest upgrade for him in this Mobile Suit was the inclusion of the three-sixty-degree panoramic screen.

<Test firing thrusters in... 3 2 and 1>

He pressed the three-dotted button on the neural interface joystick on either side of his seat. His fingers felt a tingle as he passed the command. Outside the three primary thruster unit-two on the back and one over a single wing protruding from the spine; it was for quick manoeuvring in air-blasted and spewed pure blue flame.

<Thrusters are functioning at safe levels. Now moving onto the secondary thrusters>

Sal took a deep breath; these checks were very tiring, but he knew that for a good flight, he needed to go through this pain.

"Can't we just fly out already?" Susannah, who stood next to him on the seat platform, gave him an innocently confused look.

"Shhh, I am concentrating."

"For what?" She tilted her head as her blonde hair bobbed over the side, falling from over her right shoulder, touching his fingers.

"The checks Scramb- ahem, I mean Princess." He held back his annoyance. "We are in a state-of-the-art Gundam, I can't simply fly it without going through all the checks."

"But you never check your weapon before fighting Honkai."

"..." Sal gave her a pout and turned away from her.

"I was just stating facts, idiot." She giggled as she leaned over, her fingers over the third data screen to his right. It had data on the levels of thruster limits.

"Sometimes I wonder why I keep up with you." He whispered as he entered commands on the primary datapad. The cockpit vibrated as the Mobile Suit moved forward. Another check, this one was for seeing the functionality of the frame.

"Because you love me too much." She grinned as she stuck out her tongue teasingly.

"Be happy that I do. If not, I don't think we would be friends."

"Meanie."

"Princess."

"I am starting to think I like this version of you more than the usual one."

"..." Sal ignored her remark with a cold glare as he did the last check on the sensors.

<All checks have been done, Dr Nagamitsu.> He reported through the intercom.

<Affirmative, all the modules in our system are working as well.>
