The last thing that Kiana Kaslana wanted during her long-awaited vacation on a tropical island was to be confronted by her alleged husband, who, due to turbulent events, was also her closest friend. Daresay, best friend even. Although with the current accounts of the sequential events that followed, she couldn't deny that he had made her heart skip a beat more than once.

"I hate this," Kiana grumbled, holding the second-tier carts. It was filled with supplies for the residents of the Ogasawara Islands. A gift from Theresa and a token of goodwill for housing the world-ending Hersscher without making a scene.

"Your fight with Sal?" Bronya hovered using her drone. "Or the work."

"It wasn't a fight..." Kiana mumbled, casting her gaze over the crashing waves below. "And no," She pointed at the partly filled skies. "The humidity, I hate that."

"Don't worry, Miss. Kiana," Seele chirped from the side. Her pale arms were tanned as she pulled the hove-board filled with Homu-plushies. A gift for the kids. "I checked the weather report, and they said the rain would dissipate after noon."

"Thanks, Seele," Kiana gave a wistful nod, her blue eyes pasted over the lighthouse silhouette uphill. "But I would prefer it if it rained," She heaved a sigh, with a whisper. "At least then I won't have to worry about running into him."

"Would you mind if I confided in you as a friend?" Bronya pulled up a chaise lounge and brought it beside a sunbathed Kiana. They were at the private beach, a few paces from their residence. It was Seele's plan to spend the remainder of the day by the ocean. Kiana was reluctant, but agreed after she was informed that Sal would be spending most of his day at the port. Hence, she obliged.

"If this is about the younger Apocalypse," Kiana buried her face in Sal's white sweats. It was a gift. "Then please no. I have made up my mind, and nothing will change that."

"You do realise, this is hurting you as much as it hurts him."

Kiana pressed her lips shut. She wouldn't entertain the topic of a certain green-eyed, raven-haired boy any longer.

"You will regret this, idiotka." Bronya's tone was slightly aggressive; however, her expression remained unwavering.

Kiana huffed, her gaze over the undulating waves and the golden shimmers it illuminated. It reminded her of when the dork had followed her to the Sulawesi peninsula, right after Himeko had neutralised Sirin. She was angry then, but she was glad he was there. "I am sure I will..." She mumbled and turned away.

Bronya didn't pursue further.

The shimmering ray of the twilight sun bounced off her slightly tanned skin as Kiana peeked over the seaside street. It was the only path that led back to their residence. She was making sure there were no unwanted pedestrians.

"It doesn't matter how careful you are, idiotka," Bronya gave her a wry smile. "The younger Apocalypse will find you."

"No, he won't!" Kiana scowled. "Also, I am not trying to avoid Sal, it is not like I love his presence, or miss his voice or anything. Yeah, I am completely done with that dork. Yep-"

"I never said you were."

"I was just trying to make things clear before you assumed..."

"Uh-huh."

"Ugh."

"Also, just so you know." Bronya sighed as she remembered Theresa's reply today. "Theresa will send him back if you don't do anything. Rather, it would be in the best interest of our side because he was a spy to begin with, so..."
