Kiana was pacing around the bridge as she clutched her Captain's black-white cap. On that was an insignia of a cat paw emblazoned in golden thread. Her uniform was metallic black with orange accents that she had draped over her shoulders like a cape.
"This is a blunder!" She declared, catching a napping Bronya off-guard as Raiden Mei sat next to her on the adjacent end of the bridge. "How could I let this happen! Stupid, that dork, ugh!"
"Captain, you are scaring us," Mei lied, calmly sipping tea from her demitasse white cup. Meanwhile, a half-asleep Bronya grumbled curses and went back to sleep. "Also, care for some cheesecakes?"
"No, Mei!" She punched the command module, her blue eyes filled with rage and confusion. "All I want is to kill a man right now."
"Phainon cooked your favorite blueberry." She nonchalantly replied.
"You don't understand." She made an angry face but walked over to her side, picked up her piece and swallowed it whole. "Also, tell Phainon he has been getting better. Keep that up; he will find the Universe blue in no time."
"I will make sure to do that." She had an amused grin. "Also, Captain, by any chance, are you going to Tatooine again? For killing that man?"
"Yes... I mean, no!" She shook her head as she texted Vill-VI in the hangar to prepare the shuttlecraft with that newbie she picked in Sigonia IV.
<Understood Captain,> Vill VI replied with a thumbs-up emote. <I will sortie the latest one we stole from the IPC supply ship last month>
<Do as you wish; just make sure it's fast>
<Sorry for asking, but are you going out on a hunt, Captain?>
<Sort of>
At 2300 Hours, Galactic Standard time, on Hangar number 7 of the Arcadia pirate ship, stood Kiana Kaslana in her white-orange space suit as the young yet uptight pilot, Hyacine, gave her a salute.
"Captain, I am honoured to have had the chance to serve you so quickly." She communicated her happiness. "I swear on the name of my mentor, Anaxa of the thousand faces, I will lead you to your destination in the shortest time possible."
"That is good to know, Hyacine," She patted her shoulder. "And you don't have to be polite all the time. Having a brilliant helmsman and medic like you with me is a pleasure."
"Thank you, captain."
The shuttleship Aquila was the state-of-the-art machinery developed by the Grove factory on Amphoreous, with an engine designed by the Xianzhou Alliance and funded by the Stonehearts of IPC. Stealing it was the biggest heist any pirate of Kiana's century had achieved.
Its sleek and aerodynamic body allowed good manoeuvrability in the vacuum of space, with the added benefit of gravity and the abacus engines of the Xianzhou. It was as strong in the planet's gravity and atmosphere depths.
As they entered the FTL, the light and time around the ship warped as they travelled towards their destination.
"You seem to be oddly familiar with system Hyacine?"
"Yes." She replied giddily. "It is similar to the ones they made me pilot at Sigonia IV. There are a lot of newly added changes, like the panoramic HMD headset and the more efficient abacus engine. But more or less conceptually, they have the same controls."
Kiana's eyes darkened as she heard the pastel-headed girl's optimistic reply. She was aware of how Hyacine was exploited not only by the inhabitants of the planet but also by IPC for carrying out mass genocide in the desert planet. She was sold around for her skills multiple times and was sortied more than humans should be.
When Kiana encountered her during a dog fight, she was amazed by her skills, but when she shot her down and met her in person, she was met with lifeless eyes who were relieved to be finally set free.
At that moment, she decided to take the girl under her wing. For better or worse, liberating people like her was another mission of her Pirate voyage. However, with how things were, her life as a pirate might end.
"Captain?" Hyacine, concerned by the silence, asked.
"Sorry," Kiana waved her hand. "I was just thinking..."
"If you were worrying about me," She replied brightly. "Then Captain, you don't have to. I/m already... really happy. I get full meals now, every day. And Phainon... always makes sure food's how I like it," She giggled. "Though, it doesn't have to be... I mean, even just getting food every day is... It's more than enough." Her gaze went towards the control panel as her fingers trembled. "Also! Dr. Mobius has taught me surgical stuff- real techniques, not just patchwork. She said I got steady hands. I can finally save lives." She said the last part quietly. "Also, Mei Vice-Captain has been very kind. She gives me sword lessons, though I still trip at times." She stopped and started again; her eyes lit up as she steered the mood back upwards. "Oh! Dan Heng has been teaching me intergalactic history. And thanks to Dan Heng's lessons, I can now write my name in Galactica English." She smiled quickly like she was waiting for approval. "Want me to show you later?"
"For sure, I would love to," Kiana replied with a smile. "But I am really glad to hear that."
"Ehehe, thank you, Captain! Oh! Wait, I got sidetracked!" She shook her head and turned back.
"So what I am trying to say is that I am really happy and content with my days. And that is why I don't want you to worry about me anymore. I might not look like it, but Hyacine is very strong."
"She sure is." She smiled gently and gave her a nudge on the helmet. "But I will always love and worry about your well-being, Hyacine. You are my crew, and that makes you family."
Hyacine nodded as her eyes widened. "What's with that look, strong girl?" Kiana teased.
"Captain always has a way with words. Mei, Vice-captain, was right."
"Really, maybe I have."
In the apartment at Tatooine, Sal, who was silently sitting and waiting for the storm to approach, sipped black coffee. His significant other called This abrupt emergency meeting without any explanation. At around six hours from the present, he received a text:
<I hate you. What is wrong with you? I can't believe you did this to me! Meet me at Tatooine, or else I will ram Arcadia at the Imperial Capital>
Confused and terrified of his beloved's sudden barrage of not-so-friendly texts, Sal took a quick
leave, averted his supposed Fiance Susannah's invite for a date, and made his way here.
He took another sip and glanced at his watch. Anytime now, he thought.
"Sal Apocalypse!" Her words echoed from down the hallway as she blasted into the house. In her hand, there was a device he had only heard of in biology books. "Thanks to you not being able to hold it in! I am pregnant!"
