Chapter 165
Near the shoreline, two small figures were fully immersed in their own world.
Zadriana and Hannah had already claimed a section of sand as their “kingdom,” complete with uneven towers, broken shell decorations, and an ambitious moat that the tide kept erasing.
“Kuyaaaa!” Zadriana called, waving both hands energetically. “Come help us!”
Hannah pointed proudly at their structure.
“We’re building a fortress! But it keeps collapsing!”
Zatariel glanced toward them, then back at Miexha, clearly reluctant to move away.
Miexha giggled softly.
“You can play with them,” she said gently.
“I’ll just rest at the cottage for a while.”
Zatariel didn’t release her immediately.
His hesitation was obvious.
Meanwhile, Zadriana’s lower lip began to tremble, her eyes already shining with the early signs of tears.
Hannah crossed her arms.
“If you don’t come, the west tower will fall again,” she warned dramatically.
Zatariel sighed softly in defeat.
He carefully lowered Miexha onto the sand.
She smiled reassuringly and leaned closer, placing a quick kiss on his cheek.
“It’s really fine,” she whispered.
Zatariel nodded… then quickly stole a light kiss from her lips.
“Ewww!” both girls squeaked at the same time, immediately covering their eyes.
Zadriana peeked through her fingers anyway.
Miexha laughed, waving lightly before turning toward the beach cottage.
The sand felt warm beneath her bare feet.
Occasionally, small shells pressed sharply against her skin, but she didn’t complain.
Ahead, she noticed Jayson speaking quietly with his mother.
The neatly folded towel rested beside him.
He had prepared it earlier… even before she returned from the water.
She continued walking toward them.
Jayson noticed her.
His expression immediately shifted.
“Stop there,” he called gently but firmly.
“Don’t take another step.”
Miexha blinked in surprise.
Before she could respond, Jayson had already picked up the towel and walked quickly toward her.
Behind him, Jane simply shook. her head with a faint smile.
Without interrupting, she quietly turned and headed back toward the mansion.
Jayson reached Miexha and carefully wrapped the towel around her shoulders.
“You should have called,” he said quietly.
Without hesitation, he lifted her into his arms and carried her toward the shaded cottage.
Once seated, he crouched slightly to examine her feet.
Thin scratches and faint redness marked the soles where shells had pressed too sharply.
“You walked all the way here like this?” he asked.
