A Lesson I Wasn't Ready For

*In remembrance of one of my favorite professors who passed away yesterday*

The news still lingers in my head

I cannot process death

In my head, it doesn't register

I hear it, but don't feel it

I'm numb to death

I feel sad, but I keep moving

I keep going no matter how close death is to me

I can't mourn through who have passed

I keep going, no more what

Yet I find myself lingering at the news of your passing

I find myself saddened by what happened

I find myself needing time to process but yet I don't know how to feel

I feel scared and worried about the implications of your passing

Sad to see how the school will be when going back

Death isn't an easy thing for me

Yet I find myself smiling and laughing as time never passes

You were my first professor I ever had in college

I remember being afraid of what college life and what to expect

But you teach me to not only live it but to experience life

Make memories and friends

Time passes before you know it

Now I'm staring at your obituary

Thinking time does pass by, but not in a way I would have liked it to
