I stepped down the stairs of our school main building, heading towards my locker. The clamouring of the students in the hallway, silent shouting from the distance, boys running like they're in the freeway filled the surroundings.
It's chaotic,
It's messy,
It's Highschool.
I stopped in front of my locker, twisted the lock with its right combination. Once open, I put my things inside then closed it. A figure leaning on the lockers appears.
"Hello, Stacey." Jhoanna greeted, voice hint with mischief. I didn't acknowledge her presence. I walk away from her.
I saw her following me, skipping to my side. "Kamusta klase mo? Did you enjoy it? Did you miss me?"
I glanced at her because of her last comment. "And why would I miss you?"
"Dahil hindi mo ako classmate."
"You're full of yourself to assume that I want to see you." I flatly stated, not stopping from my track.
I heard her giggle. Freaking giggle. That sound did something, but I won't entertain it.
"You're so cold and brutal. You and ate Aiah are so different."
"Not because we're sisters doesn't mean na parehas dapat kami ng ugali."
Ate Aiah is my half sister. She's much older than me. I'm the product of her father and my mother's affair, but it doesn't change how she treated me. She treats me so well and love me like no one else.
She's the CEO of Arceta Group, the one and only wife of Mikha Lim—the CEO of Lim Enterprise.
I didn't take my father's last name as I did not grow up with him. He only introduced me to ate Aiah and that's it.
"So wanna eat lunch with me?" Jhoanna offered. Her eyes are hopeful, her smile holds anticipation.
I won't give her the satisfaction of eating with me. I don't care about her. She's just going to annoy so much.
"Don't you have friends?"
"I do, but I prefer eating with you."
"Well I don't." I coldly stated, started to move my feet away. "I don't like you hovering like a fly around me."
She didn't follow me. She stayed. I know this not because I turn to see her, but because quiet settled in.
******
"You look hot when you're studying." I flinched, snapped my head away from the source of that sound.
I stared at Jhoanna, her breath linger on my ear. I can still feel her lips touching the top of my ear because of the whisper she made.
I clenched my hand on the pen that I'm holding as I calm my heart who becomes abnormal for a second.
"Did no one teach you about personal space?" I asked with annoyance and restraint. She only just smiled at me, put her books on the table, and sit next to me.
"You don't look that you mind me being close to you." She said cockily.
"What are you really doing here, Jhoanna? Aside from causing turmoil in my life."
She placed her elbow on the table and used her palm to support her chin. She tilted her head while looking at me.
"And here I thought I'm being cute."
"Please," I scoffed. "You're far from being cute. You're a gremlin hiding in that tall body of yours."
A small laugh escape her mouth out of amusement. I ignored her once more and continued with my studies.
