Taylor let out a frustrated sigh as she planted her hands on her hips. Joe stood across from her, looking just as annoyed and angry. They were in a standoff, and it was clear that neither of them was backing down.
Taylor and Joe have been having problems for a few months now. The reason for this fight: Joe had told Taylor that he would be home at 6:00, it was currently 10:30. And what his made it worse was that Taylor had made a nice dinner for the two of them for a nice date in hopes that they might be able to rekindle that spark they once shared, and the night just ended with Taylor eating it by herself in silence.
"I'm not a fucking child, Taylor. I don't have a curfew." Joe argued. "I can get home whenever I damn well please, and I don't need you scolding me like I'm a child."
"You told me that you would be home by six. I made a nice dinner for the two of us so we could have a nice date and hopefully try to get a spark back, but it's clear that you're not as into saving this relationship as I am," Taylor countered.
"God, are you even hearing yourself right now?" Joe replied. "A dinner isn't gonna help us with anything, Taylor. I don't want to eat your shitty food right now."
Taylor didn't say anything for a few seconds; instead, she used all her energy to hold in her tears since she knew the shame that Joe would make her feel if he saw her crying right now.
After a few seconds to try to collect herself, Taylor took a deep breath. "Then I guess this just isn't gonna work anymore."
"What are you talking about now?" Joe rolled his eyes.
"We should break up," Taylor shrugged.
"You have to be fucking joking," Joe replied, but the look on Taylor's face told him everything; she was not.
"Because I didn't show up right when you expected me and were having a stupid fight, you wanna break up." He asked as if that was the actual reason.
"No," Taylor replied sternly. "I'm breaking up with you because I've had enough of trying to fix whatever's wrong with us, especially because you clearly don't care to pull your weight, so I'm done."
"You're a fucking mess, Taylor," Joe replied.
"Well, that might be true, and the first step to fixing that is the get rid of the dirty laundry, so get out." Taylor stood her ground.
"What?" Joe asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Get out, this is my house, I'm sure as hell not leaving. So get out." Taylor replied.
"This house is both of ours," Joe retaliated.
"Yet my name is on the lease, and yours is nowhere to be found. I won't say it again, Joe. Get. Out." Taylor replied.
"Y'know what, fine. I don't wanna be in this house with traces of you everywhere anyway," Joe replied, his eyes dark with anger. "And it's not like you won't come crawling back soon anyway. Trust me on this, Taylor. No one is going to love you like I did."
"Whatever, Joe," Taylor replied. "You can come back to pick up your stuff tomorrow."
Joe turned and grabbed his jacket off the hook. As he had touched the doorknob, he turned to take one more look at Taylor. "I hope you're happy with how your life is turning out."
