Summary: Travis comes home early from being away at training camp to find Taylor having a panic attack.

I know this timeline lowkey might not even make sense but it takes place not long after Taylor and Travis get engaged 'cause it plays into why she's having a panic attack so we're just gonna go with it👍

"Woah, man. Try to act a little excited." Patrick joked when he walked into the dorm room and saw Travis grinning from ear to ear, his bag already packed.

"I haven't seen Tay in forever and I'm excited to get back, what can I say?" Travis shrugged.

"It's only been, like, a few months?" Patrick replied.

"Yeah, too long." Travis replied. "I'm ready to get home and, y'know, cuddle and stuff."

"Yeah, and stuff." Patrick snickered.

"Haha." Travis rolled his eyes. "I'm sure you're excited to get back too and see the kids and Britt."

"Yeah, yeah. I am." Patrick nodded. "You were just expressing enough excitement for the both of us so I hid it better."

Travis rolled his eyes again.

They held the conversation for a few minutes but it was clear that Travis was excited to get home so Patrick didn't keep him waiting any longer. They just said their goodbyes and Travis throw his bag over his shoulder, strolling out of his dorm room and home to finally get to be with his girl after a long, hard couple of months.

Travis though about texting Taylor at first to let her know that training camp ended a little early and he'd be home sooner than expected, but thought it would be more fun to just let it be a surprise.

They texted throughout camp and FaceTimed as much as they could towards the evening, which left an annoyed Patrick putting a pillow on his head after the fourth "No, you hang up first." But phones can only get you so far when Travis was away at training camp with his super hot and perfect fiancé waiting at his home and he was stuck running around with other sweaty men in tight pants.

Not to mention that they had just gotten engaged when he had to leave, they only had one night together as an engaged couple before Travis had to go, which was disappointing as well and made his return all the more exciting.

Travis tossed his duffel bag in his trunk and hopped in the drivers seat, ready to get home. The drive from Saint Joe is almost an hour long so Travis put on his playlist, which was mostly just Taylor's music so that he could hear her voice, and he got to driving.

Traffic was relatively slow so Travis got there a little faster than expected, and he quickly grabbed his duffel bag from his trunk and made his way up to the house.

The house was quiet when he opened the door, which wasn't unexpected since Taylor was always the quiet one and didn't like to make a lot of noise, which might relate back to that being her career.

Instead of searching all around the big house, he decided to just call out her name so she could get in his arms faster. "Tay, baby!" Travis exclaimed, dropping his duffel bag to the floor, against the wall.

Usually that's all it took for Taylor to come running and jump into his arms, especially since she didn't know he was even coming home, but it was still silent, no sound of Taylor anywhere.

"Tay?" Travis called again, walking forward to start peaking into rooms. He started out with the rooms she would most likely be in, the kitchen making her sourdough she's been obsessed with lately, in the living room watching Grey's Anatomy or Friends, in her music room toying around with some new lyrics and melodies, but she was still no where to be found.

The next spot he checked was their bedroom, and before he even opened the door, he could faintly hear the sound of gasping and sniffling coming from inside.

"Tay?" Travis' eyebrows furrowed and he turned the door handle, opening the door in a rush to see Taylor sitting on the bed, tears streaming down her face, her breathing out of control.

Taylor looked up in shock when Travis broke in the room but her breathing stayed labored. "Trav." She gasped out.

"Hey, hey." Travis said, quickly running to the other side of the bed and hopping on next to Taylor. "Hey, shh. It's okay, baby. Just breathe with me."

He put an arm around Taylor's shoulders and she set her head on his chest, sniffling.

"What's going on, baby?" Travis asked, kissing her on the head.

"I-I- it's-" She gasped out.

"It's okay, baby." Travis said. "Listen to my heart, baby. Just relax." He gently shifted her head over to lay over his heartbeat. "Just breathe with me, sweetie. In and out."

Taylor tried her best, and although her breathing wasn't back to normal, it did slow down a bit."

"Now, why don't you try to tell me what happened now." Travis said.

Taylor sniffled. "I went online to see how many people were congratulating us on the engagement. And a lot of people were." Taylor explained and Travis nodded, glancing down at where Taylor was fidgeting with the shiny ring on her finger. "And then people started talking about how this marriage was gonna be the end of my career and how no one's gonna care about me or my work if I'm not getting heartbroken and channeling it into songs anymore."

"Awe, baby." Travis sighed.

"And a lot of people saying it were my own fans, which just made it worse. Why are people so obsessed with wanting me to be sad?" Taylor cried.

"I know, baby. I'm so sorry." Travis replied. "You don't deserve that. Nothing gonna change when we get married, baby. You'll still be the most talented songwriter and musician ever."

Taylor sniffled, burying her head further into Travis' chest.

"Fuck what anyone else has to say. We're in love and getting married and anyone else's opinion doesn't matter. Okay?" Travis explained and Taylor nodded. "Yeah. It just upset me, that's all."

"And I understand why. People are shitty. But the only opinions that matter is yours and mine, alright?" Travis replied.

Taylor smiled, leaving up to kiss Travis in the lips. "Alright. Uhm, can we just order in tonight? I don't feel like making anything. And, y'know, I wasn't aware that you were even coming yet so I didn't prepare."

"Yeah. That's fine, baby. We can watch some cheesy romcom in bed while we eat." Travis suggested and Taylor nodded. "Yay!"

Travis smiled and stood up from the bed. Taylor looked at him with a soft smile on her face. Yep, she was marrying this crazy, funny, sweet, amazing guy, and who the fuck cares what anyone else thinks.

I'm also gonna watch the movie after I finish the book.
