(3rd person POV)

"Respiratory fail, muscles severed... What kind of magic does this?"

You hear people talk around you. Soft murmurs against the fuzzy cloud that is your mind. You must be way under to feel such bliss.

"They shouldn't even be alive. Even our best healers can't fix this. And yet, they live. Is it the hybrid thing?" Some other voice asks.

"Don't think of 'em as a science project, that's my rookie you're talking about." A more familiar voice grunts, accompanied by the subtle aroma of cigarrete smoke.

"After all that, you still call them a rookie?" A calmer voice sounds, you feel a hand card through your hair in your half-conscious state.

If you have even half the problems they say you have, then you must be heavily sedated to not be in pain. Explains the half-conscious state you're in, at least.

"Stop it." You hear what you think is Yami scolding the person touching you. The other man laughs it off.

"I rarely ever see your bulls, Yami. Allow me some leeway here." The mystery man muses again. he sounds rather at ease.

"Sir, they're waking up." Someone else speaks urgently.

Waking up? You? Well, if they say so.

You feel an actual jolt as you awake, artificially, that is.

The light of the room blinds you severely, golden rays of light reminding you that you still have eyes... Bummer.

"Y/N? Can you hear me, kid?" You hear Yami ask, his messy black hair slowly fading into view as he blocks off the light with his large body.

You let out the weakest groan you've ever heard of yourself, and that's saying a lot considering the things you've been through.

"Don't speak." Yami warns, his palm against your forehead. You really tricked yourself into thinking he'd despise you after... after...

You don't really remember.

There was an attack, right? On that Village?

You went there... The Diamond Kingdom was attacking.
