In the streets of Liyue...
At every seat of a restaurant or a tea lounge...
On every corner where kids played whimsical games...
At every high table where the rich and influential dined..
Within every modest fisherman's household...
A story began to circulate...
"They say they're the descendants of a grand sorcerer bloodline!"
"I heard he's the Geo Dragon in human form!"
"I head the lady in white is the White Horse Adeptus' reincarnation!"
Each and every person had their own idea of what they'd seen.
"Even when he promised he wouldn't show, he still came and saved the Harbor all the same!"
"The woman in white did most of the fighting! Leave it to a man to wait until the last moment to help...!"
"I wonder if they're a real couple..."
Some of them were a little gossipy in their discussion...
----------
Atop a mountain in the land of Inazuma, within a grand shrine, a pristine maiden in red and white read through a newspaper recently released, reporting news from Liyue. Another disaster had been averted, supposedly be He Who Dared himself.
"A man in gold, fighting alongside a beautiful woman in white...?" The woman said, an ear the color of Sakura leaves flapping with annoyance.
"Son Wu, you son of a bitch...~" Yae Miko hissed, a vein bulging on her brow.
----------
A few days had passed. A calm normalcy had once again returned to this placid Harbor. A calm breeze ruffled the coats of wandering citizens, and the sun shone down with a gracious light, dipping ever lower as the evening inched on, painting the sky in growing shades of orange.
Peace had returned.
On this evening, a scruffy man in a blue martial arts Gi lounged at a table sitting in the center of a grand plaze upon Liyue Harbor's greatest marvel, the Jade Chamber, watching groups of rich, and powerful, humble and honorable folk stepped off of the jade elevators to the palace in the sky, joining the venue of tables line up around the grand stage.
"Are you sure about this, Wu?" Shenhe asked. "If you desire to remain a secret, Yun Jin could simply cover my legend alone..." Shenhe said, sitting across from Wu at the small table.
"Everyone already knows a version of me these stupid rumors have conjured in their heads. I hate it, but it can't be helped..." Wu sighed. "At least this way, they get a trimmed, definitive version of the man beneath the legend..." Wu sighed. "Sorry to steal some of your thunder..." Wu said apologetically.
"Ah, there's no need..." Shenhe said shyly. "I to have no need for praise... I am only accepting because I have no desire to stifle Yun Jin's creative spirit..." Shenhe said.
Wu chuckled.
"I know, I was just teasing..." Wu said.
"Quiet, you guys... The play is starting!" Paimon said, floating beside Aether, who was seated at a table adjacent to them.
Wu and Shenhe were silent, their gazes flicking to the stage as the sun finally dipped below the horizon, the stage illuminated by candlelight and oil lamps.
