Alabaster went down to breakfast in the Great Hall for once hoping to actually get a good breakfast. He took a seat near the end of the table as his housemates were chatting away with the Americans. He had tried to ask them a couple of questions, but they only gave him funny looks, so he decided there was no point. A whole other country thought it was weird, so be it, at least he could eat at the end of the table without anyone bothering him.

He was thinking about writing another letter to Fiona and drawing her another picture in hopes to cheer her up when a student took a seat across from him. It was an older student and it wasn't a Slytherin.

It was one of the Americans.

This intrigued Alabaster but he also felt quite nervous. He surveyed the boy and he was the one he had liked the hair of, one because it was pretty and two because he had learned a new fact that boys in fact were allowed to have long hair.

"You're Alabaster Jackson, yes?"

Alabaster nodded. "Yes, you can call me Alabaster."

The boy smiled. "My name is Eric Danes. I remember you from a few days ago. You were asking some questions to our...lovely captain over there and he wasn't really answering you. Too busy with quidditch and...talks of no-maj's and magic and all that stupid BS, but I want you to know that if you have any questions, I will be happy to answer them."

"What is BS?" Alabaster asked, unfamiliar with the term.

Eric took a sharp breath, realising his mistake. "Yeah...don't worry about that. Any other question, I will be happy to answer. Just...forget about that one."

"Do they have leaves in America? I really like leaves."

Eric chuckled. "Yes, we have leaves. Every country has leaves but in some parts of America, the leaves never change colour. They just stay green all year long...or brown. Depending."

"Oh, that is sad because orange, yellow and red leaves are so pretty!"

"They really are. I assume Autumn is your favourite season?"

"I like all the seasons," Alabaster said. "Do they have snow in America?"

"Some states do, yes."

"What about dandelions?" Alabaster asked. "I really like dandelions."

"Really? They're weeds."

"They are very pretty."

Eric nodded. "Well, to answer your question, yes we have dandelions."

Alabaster grinned. "Oh, how lovely!" There was a pause. "What house are you at Ilvermorny?"

"I'm a Pukwudgie," Eric answered. "It is considered to be the heart."

"That is interesting," Alabaster said. "What is it the heart of?"

"The magical person," Eric answered. "The house system works differently in America than it does here. My house is considered to be protectors and caregivers, those who are independent and wickedly smart. They are also said to be loyal. From what I have learned it sort of reminds me of Hufflepuff, but I know there still are differences."

Alabaster nodded. "That is really cool but I do not think I like you guys."

"Oh...why is that?"

"Two Hufflepuffs I know were really excited about Ilvermorny coming and now they can not ask their questions because in America it only allows purebloods. It is not fair."

Eric sighed. "Oh...that. Yeah. I know. It really sucks. The whole law is so stupid. I live on a reservation and the laws there are different. No-maj and magical people mingle and everyone is fine with it. We have been trying to get the MASUCA to listen and change their ways but...it is a long, long, depressing process."
