Wanting to be loved (Zuko)

When I woke up the next morning Zuko was still asleep and I took his arm from my waist and silently stand up. I walk to the little river and wash my face then I practice my waterbending and do some workout. I walk into the river and sit down in the middle. I can feel the stream against my bare arms and I concentrate on it I try to get the image in my head of creating waves and try to make the water do it with my mind.

I have to make sure my breathing stays steady and when I open my eyes I see small waves around me and Zuko sitting on the edge of the river. I stand up and walk over to him when I am on the land again I bend the water from my clothes back in to the river. 'I never saw anyone bending with their mind. How did you do that? How long do you know you can do it? Can you teach me?' he throws the questions at me.

'Well good morning to you too. And I didn't know I could do that I just felt like trying so this was the first time. I don't know if I can teach you because I don't know how firebending works. Maybe if we ask Iroh for help we can figure it out. He has knowledge about all bending' I explain all his questions. He smiles at me and I place my hand on his cheek.

'I like it when you smile. You really have to do it more often' I smile back at him. 'I can try. It's just that I haven't felt this calm in a while' he says as he leans in my hand. 'Maybe I can try it again and if you sit with me it can make you understand a little' I question him. 'We can try that'. 

I walk back into the river and sit down Zuko comes over and sits next to me. 'Now close your eyes and feel the water around your body. Concentrate on your breathing but I guess you know how and just feel the water' I tell him in a soft voice. 'Now I'm going to visualize waves in my head and concentrate on this image' I say and see the waves in my head.

I try to think of nothing and I can feel the water coming higher and lower around me. I slowly open my eyes and see the waves. 'I think I get it but I have no clue how to do this with fire' Zuko said as he looks with big eyes to the waves. 'I don't know either. The two elements are so different. I mean I have to have water around or I can't bend anything but you can make fire from nothing. It's the same with earth and air.' I tell him and start to think about it. If I can show it to Aang he might get it because he can water bend and air bend.

I stand up and walk back to the land. Zuko follows me and I take the water from our clothes so we are dry again. 'If I knew you are such a strong bender I would have made sure you never got off that ship' he said 'Well if I never got off the ship you would've never known I could bend and I would use bending to get off and make sure you couldn't catch me anymore. I would use it against you' I say to him and start to walk back to our little camping place.

'So you won't use it against me now?' he asks. 'Maybe, I don't know. I think I will if you try to take Aang again or if you hurt my friends' I tell him but keep walking back. Then suddenly I'm pushed against a tree. 'And in a situation like this you won't use it?' he asks and moves his body closer to mine. 'No I will use it when you use your firebending or if you hurt me' I tell him with no emotion showing on my face. 'I really hate it when you do that' he tells me 'And I hate it when you act like an arrogant kid' I say and move away from him.

I see Iroh is awake and sit next to him. I tell him what happened with the water and if he knows anything about it and if other benders can do it to. 'I don't know. I never heard of it. But I can sense you are very spiritual' Iroh tells me. 'Yes I am but I don't know how. I never knew until I met Aang. I can feel it when he is in danger or when he is in the spirit world. I cannot see spirits but I can sense them' I explain to Iroh. 'Hmmm very interesting' he says and is touching his beard like he is in deep thoughts.

When I was talking to Iroh Zuko came back and just sat there without saying anything. 'I was thinking of talking to Aang about it and ask what he thinks and if he is able to do it' I tell Iroh and Zuko jumps up he looked very angry and storms away. I excuse myself and go after him.

I find him by the river 'What's wrong with you?!' I ask him and he looks at me if I'm stupid. 'What's wrong with me! I knew you want to back to that stupid friend of yours! You still like him don't you!' he shouted to me. At first I thought he was talking about Aang but then I knew he was talking about Sokka. 'Of course I want to see Aang and Katara but I want to talk to Aang about this and maybe get to know more about it. I don't want to go back because of Sokka!' I shout back.

I can't believe he thinks that way about me.
