Wanting to be loved (Zuko)

After the wedding my grandparents stayed for a couple of days before they went back to the South Pole. Sokka and Suki stayed longer and after a couple of weeks they went to travel through the Fire Nation and up to Kyoshi Island. Aang and Katara went a couple of days after Sokka and Suki left and they wanted to travel the world and help the people and spirits that needed help from the avatar. Iroh and Toph would travel back together to the Earth Kingdom and Toph promised me she would come visit in a couple of weeks and she wanted to stay longer if possible.

Shortly after everyone was gone I missed them. We were close for a whole year and now they were all across the world.

At night I lay awake and I hear Zuko wake up. ''What's wrong?'' he whispers and puts his arm around my waist. ''I miss them already and it's been just two days since Iroh and Toph left'' I say and wipe away the tear that escaped my eye.

Zuko shifts so he can look at me. ''There is nothing wrong with missing your friends after everything you went through'' he says and combs my hair with his fingers. ''I know, but I just have to get used to it is, that's all'' I say and turn to him and kiss his lips softly.

''I'm so glad to be by your side'' I say and wrap my arms around his waist a bury my face in his chest. ''Me too'' he says as he kisses my hair. I quickly fall asleep.

The next morning at breakfast I ask Zuko a question that I have been thinking about for a little while now ''What about the search for my parents and your mother?''

He looks at me and then down to his plate. ''I know you wanted to go look for them after the war was over and I wanted that too. But I never guessed I would become Fire Lord. I can't leave now'' he says and keeps looking down. 

''I thought you would say that and I understand'' I say and sigh. ''But I will send people out to look for them when we can't. And after everything has settled down we will go and look for them, I promise'' he says and takes my hand. 

''Thank you'' I say and stand up and sit down on his lap. I kiss him and it turns into a make out session. We make our way to the bedroom and continue our time there.

Zuko and I have our six month wedding anniversary and Toph wants to come over again. She left four months ago and told us she would come for our anniversary. In these six months Katara and Aang visit us frequently and Sokka and Suki came by to let us know they would go to Kyoshi Island. We've been keeping contact with Iroh through letters just as my grandparents. Because of our marriage the Water Tribe and the Fire Nation became allies and our letters would reach them quick.

The last few days have been pretty boring, Zuko has a lot of work to do and a lot of meetings. Now I'm allowed to join him because we are married, but I didn't want to attend them all. The backyard has been under construction because Zuko held his promise to make more ponds for me.

This was not the life I pictured myself having. Not that I wasn't happy with it. I just never wondered that I would ever be away from the South Pole and that the war would be over. And never would I have dreamt to live in a castle and be married to the Fire Lord.

I get out of bed after my nap and I don't feel so good. I walk over to the kitchen and ask for some fruit. The women here are really nice to be and they didn't mind it anymore that I would come into the kitchen instead of ordering food. Because I never grew up like this I like to be independent and get my own things instead of ordering someone around. They even brought in a small table and a chair for me to sit when they worked and I eat my food.

''Are you alright princess?'' an older lady, Mira, asks me. ''I don't feel so good but it will soon be over I think'' I say and smile at her. She still looks concerned and places a hand on my forehead. ''Hmm you're not warmer than normal'' she says and keeps looking at me and then her eyes widen and I look at her in shock.
