Wanting to be loved (Zuko)

106.

We finally arrive and the maids see everyone to their rooms and some are lead to other houses around the palace because not everyone could stay here. ''We see you at dinner okay Gran-gran so you can go and rest now'' I say and give her a hug. Zuko and I walk back to our room so we can have time for ourselves because that will be over from this evening on.

Gran-gran insisted that we should sleep in separate rooms so we didn't see each other until the wedding. She said it was for good luck and it is a tradition in the Northern Tribe. As soon as the doors close I feel Zuko's arms around me and his head on my shoulder. We stay like this for quite a while just enjoying each other's presence.

We walk to the bed and lay down just cuddling.

I never guessed my life would turn out like this. If someone told me a year ago that I would get married to the new Fire Lord I would laugh so hard at this person and ask if he/she didn't hit his/her head on some ice while fishing.

I chuckle at the thought and Zuko looks weird at me. ''It's nothing just something funny I remembered'' I say and kiss his nose. We stay in our room until diner is ready and we make our way to the dining room.

I give Gran-gran a hug and sit down on Zuko's left side while he sits at the head of the table. Everyone else just sits down where they want to and Sokka sits down on Zuko's right side in front of me and he smiles at me. 

''What do you want Sokka?'' I ask him. ''Nothing! Why do you think that?!'' he exclaims and I raise my eyebrow waiting for an answer. ''Gran-gran was asking me questions about you two and she kept bugging if you guys did anything that you shouldn't do before marriage'' he told us and tried to hold his laughter back after he looked at our faces.

''Is it just me or what do old people think of youth these days!'' I say and look at Gran-gran who is talking to Hakoda. ''What did you tell her?'' Zuko asks a little worried. ''I tried to avoid answering it and went out for a walk, but when I came back she started again. She asked the maids if the two of you sleep in different bedrooms and she told her no, so...'' he said and began to laugh again. 

''You didn't tell her anything right? Right?!'' I ask and he holds his hands up. ''No I didn't tell her anything. I asked her why she didn't trust you and that you are a very responsible young lady she raised very well'' he told us and smiled. He played her ego. 

''And then she started lecturing me, saying I couldn't do those things with Suki before I got married'' he says a little down and now I have to hold back my laughter. I think it was a long lecture.

We begin to eat and when Sokka and Zuko are ready we go outside and wait for Aang to arrive. Then the feeling I haven't had in quite a while was there again and I smiled. ''He's almost here'' I say and keep looking at the sky. 

''I still can't get used to it'' Sokka mutters. ''Be glad you don't have to live with it'' Zuko whispers and they laugh. ''I'm not deaf guys'' I say while looking up at the sky. And then I see a little white dot in the sky that keeps getting bigger.

Appa lands and Aang jumps off of him and runs to me and gives me a big hug and I hug him back. After knowing how our lives could've been has made our bond even stronger. We let each other go and smile. Aangs walks over to Sokka and Zuko and gives them a hug.

I see Toph helping Iroh off of Appa and walk over to them. ''My lovely niece, it's so nice to see you again'' Iroh says and hugs me. After Zuko proposed to me he calls me his niece and I really liked it because Iroh feels as family.

''It's nice to see you too Iroh'' I smile and let go and walk over to Toph. ''And here we have our pure little bride'' Toph smiles and I laugh. ''I missed you too'' I say and give her a hug but we quickly let go because she doesn't like to hug.

And I walked over to Katara. ''And are you nervous?'' she smiles. ''No not really'' I smile back and hug her too. Then she walks over to Gran-gran. After the war ended she, Sokka, Aang and Suki all went to the South pole to see Gran-gran and tell her the news that the war was over.

They explained why I wasn't with them. After a couple of days Aang and Katara went on the move again to look for people that needed Aangs help. Sokka stayed to help with expanding the village because there would come a lot of people from the Northern tribe.

Zuko and I decided that after our wedding we would go to the Northern tribe and meet the chief. Because our marriage means that the Northern tribe and the Fire nation are connected my marriage and it can be good for the both of them to keep good contact.

After everyone greeted each other we went inside and showed them their rooms before we went back to our room and went to sleep. Because tomorrow is going to be a big day. The day I'm going to get married and start my own family.
