Wanting to be loved (Zuko)

'I hope Lee's brother is alright' I say as we stop near a river so I can practice my waterbending. I noticed that since I use my bending on a daily basis, I feel tired and uncomfortable when I skip a day. Zuko lays down on the grass and takes a nap. Suddenly I hear him say 'Azula always lies' a couple of times. It breaks my heart that he and his sister have such a bad relationship. Sokka and Katara fight and argue a lot but you can tell they really care for each other. And they are always there for each other.

I'm glad that I don't have any siblings or maybe I have and I don't know about them. Maybe my parents brought them somewhere safe just like me or..... they kept my sibling because they found a safe place to live and found it to troubling to come and get me.

I hear someone coming and see it's Lee's mother she tells us that the earth kingdom soldiers came as soon as her husband left and wanted food from them. Lee attacked them with a knife, the knife Zuko gave him. Zuko stands up and says he will get Lee back.

Zuko didn't want me to come but I said it was a good way of training. We carried two bags of water with us because the village was too far away from the river. When we arrived I saw Lee tied up to a pole. The soldiers stand in front of us. Zuko tells them that they are bullies and abuse their power. I move a little to the side to I have a clear view of Lee. The man attacks and Zuko easily blocks him. When they attack I cut the rope around Lee with an icicle. Then the last man attacks Zuko and I cut his spear with my water. He gave me a shocked look, he didn't expect me being a bender.

People from the village stand a little further away looking at what is happening. Now only the leader, if that is what you can call him, is left and he grabs his hammers. So he is an earth bender 'You can't bend without your little toys' I say when Zuko is knocked down. 'Shut your mouth little girl. You don't want to get hurt, do you?' he mocked me.

I'm so sick of this little girl thing, so what if I was a little smaller than other girls. Zuko got up and run to the man. He isn't used to fight without bending and he gets knocked out again. Now I step in 'You didn't hear what I just said?!' the man asked annoyed. 'Of course I heard. I'm not deaf you know. And I can tell you the last man who called me little girl is having trouble breathing' and I send an ice chip towards him and it cuts his face. He looks very angry now and sends boulders to me but I block them easily and hit the man with a water whip. He sends more big rocks to me and I have a hard time cutting them because they are so damn big. I fall over and the man comes to me but Zuko jumps up and attacks the man, with firebending. I can tell he is very angry and stand up myself. He keeps attacking the man and then he flies against a house.

Zuko tells who he really is and everyone in the village stares at him with hate. He takes the knife from the man and walks over to Lee and his mother. 'Not a step closer' she says. And Lee even said he hated him. 'You are all a bunch of hypocrites! You know that?!' I yell 'No don't' Zuko said defeated. 'He just saved you Lee and you even asked him to stay longer. But now you suddenly hate him. It is not Zuko's fault there is a war. He is just born in it' I say to everyone as I turn around to look at them all. 'Why are you defending him! His kind made that scar on your back!' Lee's mother yells back. 'Yes, but Zuko himself did not. And let me tell you a little joke while we're at it. My mother is a water bender and my father is a fire bender' I tell them and an old man steps forward 'But you can't bend fire' he said. 'Oh so because I can't bend fire I'm not bad? That's really funny. Did you know that Zuko's mother can't bend fire either but everyone says she is evil to and all because both of her parents were fire benders of course. Do you even hear yourself?' I say and help Zuko up and walk with him to the ostrich horse.

When we walk away I say 'A simple thank you was enough'. A man threw a rock at Zuko but I cut it with water than I freeze his feet to the ground and give him a little smile.

'You didn't have to do that' Zuko says softly after a while of silence. 'I know but I couldn't ignore it. You helped them and this is how they repay you. I know that you are kind and not evil' I tell him.'And that is all that matters to me' he says and I wrap my arms around his waist and give him a little kiss on his neck.
