Wanting to be loved (Zuko)

108.

After about half an hour the lady is done and leads me to a mirror so I can see the results. My hair is pinned up with a few braids and beautiful hair ornaments. My make-up is light as I requested. I have a little bit blush on my cheeks and some eye shadow and mascara. I sigh and take a deep breath.

Seeing myself like this makes it even more real than it already is. I hear the doors open ''Zuko is getting ready too, everything is on schedule'' Toph says. I turn around and look at Suki and Katara with a smile and they smile back.

''Now you have to put on your dress'' Katara says and I walk over to it. The maids will be helping me getting it on. ''Oh Miku! You look beautiful'' Katara says breathless and I see tears in her eyes. 

''Katara please stop or else I will ruin my make-up'' I joke as the tears form in my eyes. ''Yeah Katara hold those tears back'' Suki says as she wipes some tears of her own away. 

''You girls get to emotional!'' Toph jokes and walks over to me and feels my dress. I see her look down the ground and take her hand and give her a light squeeze to let her know that it is alright. My dress is white silk with light blue and red flowers.

My grandfather comes in at I see his mouth fall open. ''You look beautiful Miku'' he says and carefully gives me a hug, he is going to give me to Zuko. I think he is very happy to be given the opportunity to give me to Zuko because he couldn't do so with his daughter.

''Are you ready?'' he asks and I sigh. ''It's now or never'' I smile and holds his arm out for me to take. Katara, Suki and Toph walk in front. And we make our way to the courtyard where the wedding will take place.

With every step my heart beats faster and then we reach the doors that will lead me to Zuko. I take one last deep breath and the doors open. Katara, Suki and Toph walk through them and we wait for a couple of seconds before we follow them.

I feel my grandfather squeeze my hand I look up to him with a big smile and he smiles back. This is it. As we walk I see Zuko standing there with big eyes and I think I even see tears in his eyes. We walk over to Zuko and my grandfather places my hand in Zuko and holds them both before he kisses me on the cheek and walks away.

I look Zuko in the eye and see his big smile. ''You look beautiful Miku'' he whispers. Of all the people who said it today, his touches me the most.

We turn around and there is Iroh who will seal our marriage.

Iroh begins to talk about how we met and that it was a rough start but we managed to become friends and be there for each other. Even after our big sat back we forgave each other and had a stronger bond than ever.

He is so glad for his nephew to have found such a beautiful young lady and he hopes I will be there for him for the rest of our lives. 

''Now you may kiss the bride'' Iroh says and Zuko and I turn to each other and he moves my veil away. We look at each other and both lean in for our first kiss as husband and wife. When we kiss I hear the applause erupt from all the guests. We turn around and wave at all the people.

Zuko and I walk inside as the people get ready for the dinner. ''Congratulations!'' Aang yells and hugs us both. I laugh and look at Zuko. He is so happy to have them as friends and that they are there for them, something he never experienced before.

''Thank you Aang'' I smile as he lets go. ''So when will I become aunt?'' Toph asks and I see the horror on my grandfather's face. ''Not anytime soon!'' he says and walks away and I try to contain my laughter.

''I guess he is right. Maybe in a few years'' Zuko says. We talked about it, we both want kids but not right now. We are both young and Zuko has to work hard to gain the trust of the Fire Nation citizens and the rest of the world. So we don't have time for babies right now. 

''Well I would love to become a great grandmother'' Gran-gran smiles and winks at us before she walks after my grandfather. I see Zuko's face getting red as he looks at Iroh. 

''What?! I would like to become uncle again and have to little monsters come and visit me and run around'' he smiles and pats Zuko's shoulder. ''You'll have to wait Iroh. We have enough time for kids'' I say and hug Zuko.

Everyone leaves to give us some privacy. ''But we can practice'' Zuko jokes. ''Of course we can'' I smile and kiss him. We stay that way for quite a while and break apart when I hear someone cough and I look and see Aang standing there. ''Uhm so yeah, dinner is ready'' he says awkward and rubs his neck.

''Just wait until you and Katara get more used to each other'' Zuko jokes and pats Aang back as we walk towards the doors. They open for us and the applause begins. We take our seat at the table and enjoy our time with friends and family.
