When we woke up we had to make breakfast and do all the things that needed to be done. At night when we sat around the fire Sokka was telling 'scary' stories. But then Katara told us a story about a girl named Mimi from our tribe that used to be friends with her mother, but her whole family disappeared after a snow storm.
Katara's mom saw Mimi standing next to the fire and she was saying that she was so cold and couldn't get warm, Katara's mom ran outside to get help but when she returned Mimi was gone and to this day the house is empty and sometimes smoke comes out of the roof. Aang and Sokka got scared, but I didn't believe the story so it didn't affect me.
But it was a better story then what Sokka has told so far. ''I hear people scream under the mountain'' Toph says and Aang and Sokka jump to Katara. When I focus on it I feel energy coming from the mountain. Just when I'm about to say I an old lady surprises them saying that children shouldn't be outside at this time at night. And she invites us to come and stay with her.
I found the old lady, whose name is Hama, a little weird, but I didn't mention it because Katara thought she was great and so kind to let us stay with her.
When we sit around the table drinking tea she tells us it isn't safe in the woods because people have been disappearing lately. Then she shows us our rooms. I lay in bed but I can't fall asleep because of all the sounds the house is making but also because I don't trust Hama. Eventually I decided to get some sleep if something happened I wouldn't be sleep walking.
The next morning I'm already dressed when Hama walks into the room saying that we are going to the village for some groceries.
We hear people talk about the full moon and the people that have disappeared. Aang and Sokka want to walk around town to find out if the people here did something to the environment to make the spirits angry, because they think it's the work of a spirit.
But I don't think so. I don't feel any spirit energy around, but if they want to look around they can do it, that way they won't get bored and annoy me. Hama says we can take the groceries back to the inn because she has to do some little errands.
When we get back we place everything on the table and the counter. Then Sokka says he thinks Hama knows something or that she's hiding something. So I'm not the only one, lucky. But now he and Katara get into an argument because Katara likes Hama a lot.
I sigh and let them argue with each other. Sokka is going to look around the house and I just trail behind everyone and Katara keeps telling Sokka not to do this. We reach the attic and there is a locked door and Sokka sees a little chest in the room.
He picks the lock with his sword and picks up the chest but it is locked. He hands it over to Toph who tries to open it with her meteor stone. I just stand in the door post wanting to know what is inside but trying not to be too obvious. Just as Katara wants to leave I hear a click from the lock and she runs back.
Then I see Hama coming upstairs ''I will tell you what's in the box'' she says and they all scream. She takes the box from Sokka and opens it. She slowly takes out what's inside and it's a comb. But not just any regular comb, it's from the Water Tribe. I can tell by the coloring and the design.
Hama tells us that it is her greatest treasure, the last thing she owns from the southern Water Tribe. I will say I'm a little surprised I thought she was from the northern Water Tribe. She says she bought all the food today for a big Water Tribe meal and we head downstairs to prepare dinner. Even now that I know what her secret is, I still don't trust her.
When dinner is ready and Hama wants to serve the soup she does it with waterbending. Then she tells us her story about how the Fire Nation took her from her and all the other water benders from their home.
She wants to teach Katara the southerntraditions and waterbending ways so she can pass them on. ''Miku, you can practice with us!'' Katara said excited. ''No, I'm sorry. I think this has to be passed on to only you because you are from the southern Water Tribe, my mother was from the northern tribe'' I decline and smile at Hama and Katara. I guess this lady has an immense hate for the Fire Nation and I don't want her to findout that my father was Fire Nation so I don't want to get close to her.
