Wanting to be loved (Zuko)

98.

I went on a walk with Zuko so we can say goodbye and good luck on our oncoming battles. Suddenly Zuko pulls me back in a very tight hug and I wrap my arms around him as tight as I can.

''I wish I could lock you up somewhere and get you out after all this is over so I know that you are safe'' he whispers. ''I wish I could do the same with you'' I whisper back. We continue to hold each other for I don't know how long and I hoped we could stay this way forever not letting go and be sure of each other's safety.

But then he lets me go and steps back and I miss his warmth already. He looks at me at every little detail as if it was his last time and he is trying to remember everything. ''We will see each other after everything is over and you are the new Fire Lord, Fire Lord Zuko'' I smile sadly at him and he smiles back.

''Miku would you do me the honor when I'm Fire Lord to become the Fire Princess?'' Zuko said and I looked shocked at him and he kneels down. ''Miku do you want to marry me after everything is over'' he asks and looks up at me. I must say that I'm surprised I never in a million years saw this coming.

''I uh... uhm...'' I try but I can't. ''Of course I will marry you!'' I say and tears run down my cheeks. Zuko's smile can't grow any bigger and he picks me up and turns around. I have my arms wrapped around his neck and laugh with him. He puts me down again and kisses me but it's not like the other kisses we had. This one was different it was full of joy and of goodbye.

He lets me go and we hug again. After a couple of minutes we walk back. ''I think I first had to ask your grandfather for your hand I guess'' Zuko says and looks a little scared and I smile at him. ''Then you can do it now'' I laugh and he nods suddenly very nervous. We walk to my grandfather who is standing next to Iroh and Katara.

We walk over to him and we stand in front of him and I look up at Zuko. ''Sir I think I did it in the wrong order but may I marry your granddaughter'' he says and bows down and stays that way. I look at my grandfather and he looks very shocked. 

Then I look at Katara who has the same look and then at Iroh who also has the same look but with a smile. ''Uhm... I've heard a lot about you from your uncle and I think you are capable of marrying my granddaughter, you have my blessing'' my grandfather says and Zuko stands immediately straight. 

''Thank you and I promise I will love her and keep her safe for the rest of my life'' Zuko promises him and then turns to me and returns my big smile. He picks me up again and we turn around again then he puts me down and I go and hug my grandfather.

''Thank you grandpa'' I say to him and then I let him go and smile at him. ''How wonderful, you're going to be my niece'' Iroh says happy and hugs me to. ''Wait doesn't this make us family?'' Sokka suddenly questions.

''Yes I think it does through marriage'' I say now thank I think of it and Zuko looks at me waiting for an explanation. ''My grandfather is married to the grandmother of Sokka and Katara so I guess this makes us cousins I guess'' I explain to him and he nods in understanding.

''Congratulations Miku and Zuko'' Katara shouts and attacks me with a hug and I almost fall backwards but Toph keeps me steady as she is hugging my back. ''Congrats love birds. I would like to be an aunt'' she says and I see Zuko turning red and my grandfather looking at him with suspicion. 

''You will have to wait a couple of years Toph'' I quickly say. ''At least ten years or more'' my grandfather said and I looked at Zuko.

After all the congratulations we have to say goodbye and get on our way. ''Katara look out for him please'' I say to her because she is going with Zuko to fight Azula. ''Of course I will Miku. And you watch over my brother'' she smiles. 

''I've never stopped doing that since we left I think'' I laugh and we hug goodbye. I walk over to Zuko and we hug again very tight. ''Be safe and kick some ass'' he whispers. 

''I will. And you too'' I whisper back. We both don't want to let go of each other and then we let go at the same time and he gives me a sweet kiss on my lips and we turn around and take our places. We give each other one last look and we are both on our way.

''He will be okay Miku'' Toph says who sits behind me on the eel hound. ''I hope so, I really hope so'' I answer.

I take a deep breath and focus on Aang and I feel determination. ''He is ready'' I say and Toph knows who I'm talking about and I feel her squeeze me tighter.
