Wanting to be loved (Zuko)

47.

'Let's leave them alone for a little while' I say as I guided them away. 'Who are you?' I heard the girl ask. 'I'm Miku a friend of Sokka, Katara and Aang. Who are you' I ask her and she doesn't answer me. 'This is Toph, she is my earthbending master' Aang tells me with a big smile. 'That's great Aang!' I say to him.

'Didn't anyone else see that Miku was waterbending' Sokka says with an annoyed look on his face 'Of course I saw that! You were amazing' Aang told me 'I just knew you could bend' Katara said. 'Okay why don't you guys find it strange?' Sokka now asks. 'Why would that be strange or do you feel left out' Toph says to Sokka. I really like her. 'She always told everyone she couldn't water bend. So yes for us it is strange' Sokka said annoyed to her and he waits for my answer.

'I always knew I could bend and sometimes I practiced a little back at home but since the North Pole I practice every day' I explain him. 'But why say you can't bend?!' Sokka asks more annoyed 'Because I always had the feeling that I couldn't bend because of what everyone at home said about me. Now I can finally let that go and be me, for the first time in my life' I tell him with a hard look.

'Why did you think you couldn't bend?' Katara asked confused. She never really experienced it firsthand how they treated me even her father. 'Everyone always said that I didn't deserve to bend especially not water. Because you were the only one and no one else could. So I didn't deserve it because of my father' I tell her and look down. 'That doesn't make sense. And why are with him when you could have run away!' Sokka asks. I'm getting tired of this interrogation of him.

'I stayed because I knew he would find you guys again and he and Iroh helped me with my back and treating it. And how dare you to say that is doesn't make any sense Sokka! You know what they said and did to me but you always looked away. When Aang's journey is completed and the war is over I'm not going back to that place, I will search for my parents' I shout at him.

How dares he pretending that he doesn't know a thing! Sokka looked at me with a shocked look. 'Now if you will excuse me I'm going to check up on Iroh. You guys can leave, I will find you again' I say and turn around. 'Why are you not going with us?' Katara asks 'I have to help Iroh, I can't leave him after everything he has done for me' I say to her with a sad smile.

'Ohno you're not staying with them! You are going with us!' Sokka says and grabs my wrist to pull me away. I slap his hand away and kick him so he falls back then I use the water from the bags and freeze him to the ground. 'I've always wanted to do this you know, to you and every other man from the tribe' I say bitter and then turn away. I still hear him shout for me to come back but I just cover up his mouth without looking and keep walking. I hear Toph say that she thinks I'm cool and Aang saying to Sokka that he thinks he deserves it so he won't help him. I knew Katara would because she won't believe what I said about the man in our tribe.

When I reach Zuko he is trying to hold back his tears while he still sits besides Iroh. I sit beside him and pull his head to my chest so he can cry without being seen. He grabs my shirt tight and cries. With one hand I stroke Zuko's back while with the other I hold Irohs hand and squeeze light.

I hear someone coming and look back to see Aang. He looks a little shocked at first when he sees me and Zuko but then he came a little closer 'We are leaving Miku' Aang said and I feel Zuko's grip tighten even more. 'Have a safe journey and I hope I will see you soon' I smile to Aang and he returns it with a sad smile 'For you too and I hope your uncle recovers quickly' Aang said and I nodded then he walked away.

Zuko releases me and looked at me. 'You're not going with them?' he asked surprised 'No I said I wouldn't leave you and I have to help you take care of Iroh' I softly say to him and then he kisses me. I feel a shock go through me and I know Aang wasn't gone and he saw us. When Zuko released me he bend over his uncle to talk to him.

I look behind me and see Aang standing with an even more shocked expression then before. I take my finger to my lips and sign him he has to keep it a secret. Still shocked he nodded and I gave him one last sad smile before I bend over Iroh 'We have to move you' I say to him but also to Zuko.

We managed to get Iroh in one of the houses and tried to make it as comfortable as possible. Zuko went to get some wood for a fire and I treated the wound. Now I really hate it that I can't heal like Katara.
