quick disclaimer: some things are changed a bit (like ages)

mia is drunk.

okay, maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration. she's only had three drinks, and at age twenty she's not much of a lightweight, so three drinks is enough to get her to a good spot. so she's not drunk, she's just...

light.

yeah, that's a good word. it' how she's feeling, anyways, as she tries to find the friends she came to the party with. her anxiety is put to rest by the alcohol igniting her system, thankfully, because there's so many people crammed into the frat house and she doesn't even really know why she agreed to going in the first place, it's just that on a friday night there wasn't any other option for her besides laying in bed watching netflix, and her best friend jenna told her that it would be fun-

alright. obviously clear thoughts are not something she's good at.

mia manages to get through the crowded living room where someone is chugging a keg, and her next spot to search is the basement. she doesn't find jenna down there, however she does find a group of guys passing around a bowl and two drunk girls crying over the fact that they 'love each other so much it's not even funny', so there's that.

maybe jenna's upstairs with tyler, is her next thought. tyler is jenna's boyfriend of two years, and he's twenty four and sings in a band called twenty one pilots. mia's never seen them play before, but she's heard some of their songs and thinks they're fantastic. jenna's always trying to tell her that tyler's bandmate josh would be perfect for her, but after one time that jenna set her up with this really annoying guy, she's extremely hesitant. the last thing she wants to do is waste her time on another guy who has an unnatural obsession with the theory of bigfoot.

it was seriously weird.

in the likely event that her best friend is somewhere screwing her boyfriend, mia decides that she's better sitting somewhere quiet where she doesn't have to hear the screaming frat boys or the annoying girls. so as she walks through the kitchen she grabs a bottle of vodka from underneath the cabinets, one that hasn't been opened yet, and brings it out to the back porch.

there's not that many people out there, which she's grateful for, just a few people smoking cigarettes and one girl with very obviously dyed, very obviously damaged blonde hair talking on the phone. mia walks around until she finds an empty porch swing  she sits herself down with the bottle in her lap.

she decides to text jenna, even though she probably won't see it until after she's done with uh- being busy.

after putting her phone back into her pocket she realizes that it's pretty cold outside. it's the beginning of november in columbus, which means that it's the brunt of autumn and pretty soon it'll be snowing. all she wore to the stupid party was a pair of jeans, combat boots, and a long sleeved black shirt. wait, she had a jacket at some point, didn't she? frowning a bit in thought, she remembers seeing her jacket somewhere-

shit, that's right. it's in the backseat of jenna's car.

she exhales a bit with frustration because she knows there's no way in hell that she's gonna be able to get her jacket now. and she could just go inside, except she doesn't know a lot of the people there and it's just not really her scene, anyways.
