josh has been watching mia for a good four minutes without saying anything.
she hasn't noticed this, yet, because she's too busy doing the thing that he's watching her do. her hands are holding a napkin-well, what used to be a napkin-, as she tears it into long strips out of habit.
josh decides to finally say something after she runs out of pieces to rip and takes another napkin out of the plastic dispenser. "that's a thing," he says.
"what's a thing?" asks mia, snapping her honey brown eyes back up to meet josh's glance. when she realizes that he's totally watching her tear the napkin to shreds she drops the paper material and blushes.
"that," he says again, pointing at the little pile of napkin strips. "that's one of your things."
she collects the pieces of thin paper in her hands and rolls them up into a ball and then puts it to the side. "it's not a thing," she tries to insist.
josh grins, "oh it totally is."
"you're so weird," mia shakes her head as she picks up her disposable coffee cup and takes another sip. "what's with your obsession with my 'things'?"
"they're cute, like you," he says back while nudging her foot under the table. "and very entertaining."
"and also very fucking weird."
josh makes a tsk sound. "i kinda like weird."
"well i kinda like you," she says back.
"only kinda?"
mia grins, "okay, a lot."
