"ow!" hisses josh, glaring and putting a hand up to soothe his head where tyler had just smacked him upside it. "what was that for?"

tyler gives him a lazy glance. "for being a jerk."

the drummer tsks and rubs a bit at his hair. okay, he thinks to himself. i kinda deserved that.

"i didn't mean to.." he trails off while siting up on the couch. "but you should've seen this guy, he was totally trying to put his arm around her, and he had the classic fuckboy smile and everything."

tyler stares at him. "was mia doing anything that would make you think she was interested in him?"

"well...no, not really," admits josh as he shyly glances at the ground.

it's quiet for a moment as the two boys look at each other knowingly. it's almost like they have best friend telepathy or something, because josh knows exactly what tyler's gonna say next.

"i know," says josh. "i'm gonna have to apologize, aren't i?"

tyler nods slowly and glances back at his phone screen. "definitely."

while glancing around the room, josh let's out a heavy sigh. his eyes fall upon the set of car keys belonging to mark on the small bench table. driving always clears his head, so josh figures it wouldn't kill to go for a drive before their set.

"tell mark i'm stealing his car for a bit," the cherry haired boy announces while standing up and pocketing the keys.

after he actually manages to drive out of the festival grounds, josh realizes that he has no clue where he's going.

well, he thinks to himself, looks like it's gonna be a random drive. let's hope i don't get lost.

so he starts cruising down the roads with the windows open, his left hand aimlessly hanging out. the wind feels good as he increases speed and allows the car to pretty much go wherever, making a bunch of turns where he feels like.

finally josh reaches an intersection, and as he waits for the red light to turn green he glances out the window to see what he's near. there's a few plazas of stores and strips of restaurants.

has she even texted me? he asks himself while taking his phone out of his pocket. after clicking on the home button he sees that the only notifications are twitter updates. nothing from mia.

josh isn't really sure how to apologize. i mean, sure, saying 'i'm sorry' is always a good start, but still. he doesn't want to just give her a lame apology. this is his girl we're talking about.

right as the stoplight turns green, josh notices a particular store in one of the plazas. it's neon letters glow bright and stand out, even though the sun hasn't set yet and it's still fairly light out.

toys r us.

suddenly josh thinks of an idea.

it's stupid, and cheesy, and there's probably a billion other ways that josh could apologize but it's just stupid and cheesy enough that it might work.

as the car behind him honks loudly, snapping him back to his senses, he makes a split second decision and takes a left turn to the plaza.

josh waits for almost half an hour outside the alternative press bus with a huge teddy bear in his arms.

he did get a bunch of questionable looks from people walking by, probably wondering why a grown adult is hugging a large stuffed animal to his chest.
