"i don't know what to wear." mia's sitting next to her open suitcase, a conflicted pout on her face, and about seven different outfits up to debate.
josh, laying on the hotel bed, takes his eyes away from his phone to raise an eyebrow at his fiancé. "what's wrong with what you have on now?"
"it's...eh." she shrugs at her ensemble of a plain black spaghetti strap jumpsuit and strappy sandals, "i wanna wear something cute."
"babe." deadpanning, josh props himself up on an elbow, "you do look cute. you look super cute. i took at least ten picture of you at breakfast, remember?"
with a small, appreciative smile, mia returns josh's gaze. he always knows how to make her feel better. "thanks, joshie."
"c'mere, you need a cuddle." josh pats the spot beside him in attempt to both console his girl and make up for months of missed cuddling.
and mia knows way better than to deny cuddles, so she quickly ditches the pile of clothing and opts for focusing on josh instead. "only for a little bit," she says while laying down in josh's welcoming arms. "i wanna go to disney."
"we are in disney, babe." josh gestures out to all the themed decor in their hotel room.
they're staying in one of the disney hotel resorts for a night, which makes the day open for exploring the parks.
"you know what i mean." mia playfully hits his chest, resting her head in the crook of his neck. "i've never been here before. we gotta do all the rides, okay? promise?"
josh grins at how much of an excited child mia sounds like right now. he kisses the side of her head and wraps his arms around her body. "i promise. we'll stay at the park till closing if you want. hey - we can even watch the fireworks."
"fireworks, huh?" mia nips a bit at josh's neck with light pressure. "that sounds romantic."
"oh, yeah, definitely." the sarcasm in josh's voice is very much evident. he pulls the petite brunette on top of him and gazes at her with a lazy, content smile. in moments such as this, when josh catches mia in her natural state without a fleck of makeup on her face, he likes to stare at her.
this is the face he's in love with. the smooth, golden honey skin and light splatters of freckles across her cheeks and nose that only seem visible in the summer time. captivating brown eyes that catch different hues of mocha and caramel depending on the lighting. dark, thick lashes that curl upwards towards the full and shapely brows that josh has definitely watched her spend an hour doing. the same brows that knit together when mia frowns either because she's upset or because she wants something. both ways are equally as cute.
her nose. okay - mia likes to complain about her nose and pinpoint every single flaw possible. she also claims that no one has a perfect nose, however josh finds hers pretty damn close.
with a slight shift of his iris, josh focuses on mia's lips. permanently tinted a rosy pink color with an irresistible fullness to them. these are the lips that either jut out in playful pouts, turn upwards in beaming smiles, or part in breathless exhales. josh gets to kiss these lips whenever he's around them but even still, every kiss feels like the changing of the season. new and inviting.
"i love you." josh gives his chin a gentle tilt upwards which results in his lips meeting mia's.
the brunette smiles. there's no other place in the entire planet she'd rather be than with josh. "i love you too."
maybe it's the overwhelming happiness from being able to see mia after four months, or maybe it's the lovey-dovey atmosphere, but josh's body is practically leaking
"we should get married." he sighs thoughtfully while cupping mia's cheek.
"married?" she repeats. with a small, confused frown, she holds up her left hand where the engagement ring sits, "i thought that was already established?"
"no," he says, shaking his head. an amused laugh leaves his lips when he realizes he has to clarify. "i mean now."
"right now?"
"right now," repeats josh.
she sits up on his lap. "here? at disneyworld?"
he shrugs. "we could do it."
"i don't have a dress," mia points out, like this is the biggest factor in getting married.
"i thought you packed that red one i like? with the flowers?"
mia grins. bless josh and his clueless heart. "a wedding dress, yoshua. y'know, like, a white one?"
josh makes a thinking face, his lips pursed. "m'pretty sure you could find a dress shop. if you say you'll marry me, i'll buy you any dress you want."
"have you even written your vows?"
"i wrote mine before i proposed." he gives her a bashful grin, poking her nose.
"my mom would kill me if i get married and she isn't there to see it."
josh grins when she brings this up, and he takes her hand in his. their fingers loosely interlock. "i already told her. she said we could have a huge reception party in her backyard after the tour when we're back home."
for some reason, this level of precision doesn't really click for mia. she still thinks this is all spur of the moment, so she decides to keep going with her doting questions. "where are we even gonna find a pastor? we can't just marry ourselves."
"tyler got ordained," whispers josh with a beaming smile. he kisses the back of mia's hand.
"did you plan this?"
he nods slowly, a shy, excited smile on his face. "i did," hums josh. "so what d'you say, princess mia? can we get married?"
mia stares at him with a world of contemplation behind her eyes. she would be lying if she said that eloping never came to mind, but it never felt like an actual option.
until now.
there are still a million and one things that she's unsure of in her life, but the one constant thing that seems to always keep her grounded is her love for josh.
"let's do it," she finally says with a smile equally as broad as his.
