"you look real cute," jenna says with a warm smile. she's sitting on the edge of the counter while her black-haired roommate finishes her makeup.

mia grins at her best friend's words and glances up at her through her mirror. it's been a while since she's been out on a date, well, if josh is even considering this a date. "is my hair okay in the back? i can't really see."

jenna holds up a one finger gesture for mia to spin around. when she complies, the blonde twirls a few of mia's curls around her finger. "i wish i had your hair," she sighs, shaking her head a bit.

"it is my pride and joy," the other girl muses. she glances at herself in the mirror and pulls her bottom lip between her teeth a bit nervously. she's not sure if she's dressed right. josh wouldn't tell her where they were going or what they were doing, just that it wasn't anything too fancy.

she's wearing a black and red floral bustier mini dress with black jeans and a leather jacket thrown on top. her five-foot-one stature is raised by a few inches with a pair of chunky heel ankle booties.

it's a little past seven when josh knocks on the door, the same rhythmic pattern of tapping as before. mia answers it this time, and when josh sees her a grin spreads on his lips.

"wow," he muses, whistling under his breath. "you look great," he tells her while tyler slips past him and walks into the apartment.

mia smiles shyly a bit and gives him a quick look-over. he's wearing a long sleeved black shirt with black jeans and a grey snapback worn backwards. his stretched ears are occupied by a pair of black tunnels, and his feet are clad with red vans.

"so do you," she tells him, which he laughs a bit at.

"thanks," responds josh, and he makes a dramatic effort of holding his arm out to her. "ready to go?"

mia grins and takes his arm, feeling the swell of his bicep under her hand. "yeah, definitely."

they walk down the hall to the elevator and take it down to the bottom floor of the apartment complex. when they finally get out and make it to the parking garage, josh makes sure to hold the passenger's side door open for her with a cheeky grin on his lips.

"oh my goshua, yoshua, who knew you were such a gentlemen?"

josh is too busy laughing at her rhyme to say anything back, but when he catches his breath he just shrugs his shoulders and says, "don't tell anyone, it's a secret."

they drive around downtown columbus, the music from josh's phone that's plugged into the aux cord filling the car. at some point a song comes up that they start jamming out too, which ends with them both breaking out into uncontrollable laughter.

"i'm so glad you're music taste doesn't suck," josh tells her with a slow shake of his head.

mia raises a shapely eyebrow at him, "how would you feel if it did suck? like if i was into country or something?"

josh dramatically gags and makes a disgusted face. "country, ew. i dunno how i would feel. probably bummed, because i'm totally into you. but i guess i'd just have to get over your shitty music taste."

"wow, you must really like me if you would put up with country music for me," she teases, grinning at the fact that he said that he was into her. jenna would have a field day with that information.

the driving josh shrugs his shoulders casually and then shoots her a sideways glance. "i guess so," he says back with a cheeky grin.

she's quiet for a bit after that, but it's not an awkward silence or anything. it's sort of nice, actually, as they drive along the strip of establishments.
