"i'm proud of you."

"i haven't even gotten ready yet."

"you're out of bed before noon. this is a big step for you."

mia, in fashion with her personality, rolls her eyes. "shut up and hand me my coffee."

which josh does because, well, he's josh. "here you go, mrs. dun," he says with a happy smile while carefully pushing the mug containing warm, freshly brewed coffee.

"i love having you home," says mia. it's only been a week since the boys finished tour and she's enjoying every minute of it. after mia returned to columbus she had to wait a whole month to see josh again, which sucked majorly. especially now with the presence of a wedding ring on her finger.

josh leans against the counter, his bicep muscles straining underneath his white tee shirt as he folds his arms across his chest leisurely. "and i love being home."

mia takes a sip and sighs as the coffee warms her up. "i can never get it to taste this good. how d'you do it?"

"not telling," he muses, humming to himself as he turns around to the coffee pot to pour another cup. josh's creamer and sugar measurements are strictly confidential. "it's a secret."

"secrets don't make friends, joshua."

"but they do make for amazing tasting coffee." gentle swirls of steam arise from the pink haired male's mug as he fills it with the dark liquid. even the smell of coffee intoxicates him in an inexplicable way.

the girl whose eyes are lightly underlined with lilac shadows swivels around on her stool. from the kitchen table she has a view of the windows in the living room. since josh likes having the curtains drawn open in the morning to let the light in, mia sees calming rays of gold flooding into the apartment.

winston the cat, however, hates the light so he stretches before jumping off of the couch and stalks into the kitchen with leisure, like he owns the place.

josh insists he learned this behavior from mia.

"it's such a nice day," she says, watching the view of other buildings and the city streets. their apartment is located in an area sort of in the middle of columbus, so they have the convenience of proximity without being completely surrounded by streets.

as he's crossing around the counter to sit down, josh scoops the cat up with one arm and sets him on his lap. his knee brushes against mia's - bare and soft. ever since their impromptu wedding, josh has discovered a whole new appreciation for things as mundane as the feeling of skin on skin contact.

"i hope it's this nice on saturday," he replies after a drink of coffee. he scratches behind winston's ears and then continues, "it's supposed to rain."

mia shakes her head. "it won't."

"that's what the weather channel said."

"well i say it's gonna change," she says with a determined smile. "it's gonna be nice. no rain."

josh leans forward, setting his hand comfortably on her thigh. he gives her a  gentle kiss and then exhales a quiet breath. "gosh."

"what?" she frowns, half confused and half self conscious.

"i just don't think it's fair, s'all," he shrugs. "that you don't get to stare at yourself all day. every time you smile i feel lucky."

"only when i smile?" mia teases, lacing her fingers with josh's and setting their hands on her knee.

an amused, one sided smirk draws itself up on josh's lips as he pretends to hum in thought. "hmm, no. all the time."

"even when i roll my eyes?"

"especially when you roll your eyes," he  smiles this time before their lips meet again. josh's other hand slowly comes up and rests on mia's cheek to direct the kiss further as they both speak soundless words through the synchronized flutter of heartbeats and intimate movements of lips.

at the sudden lack of attention, winston paws at josh's leg and let's out a impatient cry.

mia feels josh smile before he laughs against her lips.

"what, are you jealous?" josh picks winston up in both arms and holds him like a baby, talking to him in his child voice. "i gotta give my girl some love too, y'know. just because you're the baby of the family doesn't mean my other baby doesn't need attention."

"he's spoiled," mia states.

josh tsks. "no, he's just a diva. isn't that right, winston?"

the cat blinks, shuffles around, and hops out of josh's embrace to seek solace in the bedroom.

josh nods. "i think that means yes."

"i think that means you should go back to kissing me," says the black haired girl. she moves around on the stool and faces josh, their knees bumping. all she has on is one of josh's shirts, yet on mia it looks more like a dress as it covers the top half of her thighs.

"i think," josh let's out a sigh, tucking a stray curl behind mia's ear. he loves how perfectly real she is in the morning. "i want to kiss you for the rest of my life."

"well considering the fact that you married me-"

in the best way he knows how, josh shuts her up with a kiss.
