"babe."

"baby."

"mia--"

"josh, i'm doing work," mia giggles, looking at him for a brief second before putting her eyes back to her laptop.

he sighs with frustration. there's still an hour left of the flight and he's bored out of his mind. "can i help?" he suggests, resting his head on her shoulder.

"probably not."

"c'mon," he drawls out. "i'm literally dying of boredom."

mia raises an eyebrow at him with disbelief. "play on your phone or something. or listen to music."

"but i've already done both of those things," josh has a pouty face when he says this, because all he wants is some attention from his girlfriend.

deciding that with josh sitting next to her there's no way of getting much of anything done, she shuts her laptop and looks over at him. "okay, what do you wanna do?"

he hums in thought for a moment before taking one of her hands and cupping his fingers around hers. he starts wiggling his thumb around.

"a thumb war? really?"

"what? it'll be fun, c'mon" laughs josh.

and so they thumb wrestle.

and josh wins.

he's grinning at mia, his lips pulled back wide and his eyes all squinty. "did you let me win?"

"no," she says back while shaking her head. "i was too busy laughing at how cute you are to actually pay attention."

"makes sense."

mia had found out that she would be doing the pit blog coverage for alternative press during the festivals they were traveling to. which was awesome because they paid for her flight tickets and hotel rooms. basically her job is pretty fucking sick.

and she gets to spend time with josh while making money. two of her favorite things.

when the flight finally lands, they're in memphis, tennessee for a festival called beale street. twenty one pilots are one of the big performers so their set isn't until later in the afternoon.

"do you wanna go walk around?" josh asks mia after they've been settled for about an hour at the festival grounds.

she nods and stands up from the couch in the tour bus. "yeah, okay."

josh grins at her before sliding his sunglasses over his eye. the hot weather and bright sun is a nice change from columbus, where spring is only just starting.

"i'm so happy you're here," he tells her and then reaches for her hand. after lacing their fingers he starts to swing their hands.

mia smiles back at him. "me too."

they walk past the lot of tour busses and go through the gate, slipping past the watchful security officer.

mia can see that there are easily hundreds of people at the festival. eager, happy smiles are plastered on mostly everyone's faces. the loud sounds of the different bands playing on the various stages echo throughout the festival grounds and kind of blend together in one huge sound. overall the atmosphere feels great.
