"josh - we have to go!"
a loud, pesky sigh resonates from upstairs before josh calls back, "we're almost ready!"
mia huffs through her lips before sitting down at the bottom of the staircase. she decides on scrolling through her phone while waiting for her husband to be ready to leave.
"okay, all set!" chirps the male while descending down the stairs, a babbling baby girl perched on his hip.
mia turns her head and glances over her shoulder at the pair. it's then that she realizes josh and their daughter are dressed in matching outfits.
josh puts his hand on his waist striking a pose and jutting his hip out as he turns from side to side to show off the coordinated outfits. "what do you think?" he asks with all seriousness, lips pursing like a model. "don't we look sickning?"
"you look adorable," laughs mia, slowly standing up from the steps.
the father and daughter duo are wearing matching black tee shirts ( the baby's in a form of a onesie ) with sparkly gold adidas logos in the middle. josh has managed to get his daughter in a pair of black skinny jeans that look similar to the ones he's wearing. on both of their feet are gold and white adidas sneakers, and finishing the look are matching gold chain necklaces.
"hear that sweetie? mommy says we look adorable," josh cooes to the little girl who's face lights up as bright as christmas decorations from the attention of her dad, lips forming strings of incoherent blurbs.
"mommy also says that we're late for uncle ty's birthday party," says mia in the same baby talk voice, glancing again at the clock on her phone screen to see that they're already about fifteen minutes late. "so can daddy please go put our daughter in a coat and hat so that she doesn't freeze her cute little booty off?"
josh gasps. "of course, how could i forget - the coats!" and then with an excited rush he hurries off towards the coat closet near the entrance of their house.
mia rolls her eyes with amusement. one of her husband's favorite activities to do with their daughter is planning matching outfits, and then taking pictures of said outfits.
"alright, all set," hums the male as he returns, him and alicia now wearing matching heavy black coats and adidas beanies.
mia giggles at their appearances. it's cringey but josh looks happy so she doesn't bother telling him. "wow."
josh pretends to be offended, tsking and rolling his eyes. "you're just jealous cause me and alicia are daddy-daughter goals."
"yeah, that's it," replies the sarcastic brunette with a teasing smile. she steps up on her toes and presses a quick kiss to her husband's lips, and then delivers another on their gorgeous girl's forehead. "besides, why would i be jealous when she likes me more?"
"that's not true," josh's eyes widen and he quickly flickers his gaze between his wife and daughter - his two most important girls. "take it back."
mia knows that alicia is a total daddy's girl, but playing the favorite card always gets josh riled up. it's sort of hilarious. "here - watch," she muses and takes a step back before grinning at her daughter and holding her hands out. "c'mere, baby, come see mommy."
"mama!" squeals the barely-one year old excitedly, giggling and squirming to get out of her dad's arms now that she's distracted by attention from her other parent.
josh narrows his eyes at mia with offense. "not fair. she sucks on your tits, of course she's gonna want to go to you."
"aw, is someone jealous cause they're not the only ones that get to do that anymore?" mia sarcastically pouts and looks at josh with mock sadness.
the older man grins cheekily. "you're such a pain in the ass, you know that?"
mia frowns at josh's choice word but starts laughing anyways. "wow, really nice, right in front of our daughter."
"she won't remember," insists josh, looking down at alicia before his voice slips into baby talk mode. "right, lili? mommy's a big pain in daddy's ass, isn't she?"
"josh!" giggles the brunette, smacking his arm. "cut it out!"
he immaturely sticks his tongue out at his wife, eyes scrunching closed. "fight me, dude."
"i mean i'd rather do something else that starts with an 'f', but maybe we can revisit this later when the baby's asleep?" mia teases, reaching up and cupping josh's cheek. she can feel his stubble under her hand, tickling her palm.
"ooh," hums josh, smirking and wiggling his eyebrows. "i like the sound of that."
"i'm sure you do - okay," she laughs when she remembers that they're in the presence of their daughter, and they're late for tyler's birthday party. "let's go."
josh clears his throat. "dun, party of three, your table is waiting."
"such a loser," giggles mia, lacing her hand with his. with her other, she picks up the diaper bag and then they leave their house.
"yeah, but you married this loser. that's all on you, babe," josh grins.
she looks up at him fondly. "still the best decision i've ever made."
