"can you do me a favor?" asks josh while giving mia a quick glance out of the corner of his eyes before looking back at the road.

mia nods her head absent-mindlessly but doesn't look up from her phone. "yeah, sure."

"kiss me?"

this time, she looks up.

"you're driving," she points out blatantly for the simple fact that a car crash isn't really on her agenda of things to do.

josh just shrugs, "well, yeah, i know," he says. "but you just look really cute and i have his habit of wanting to kiss really cute girls who's names are mia."

"oh, so you're one of those guys that dates girls with the same name," she replies sarcastically.

"just shut up and kiss me, will ya?"

mia tsks and leans over the center console to give him a chaste kiss on the lips. "there, is that better?" she muses once she's back in her seat.

"eh," josh shrugs. "i guess it'll have to do."

"you're so fucking needy," mia laughs and shakes her head. after unlocking her phone she goes back to scrolling through instagram.

"am not!" he insists defensively.

she glances over at him with a straight expression. "you literally texted me at two in the morning because you wanted to hold my hand and wouldn't go to sleep until i did it."

"point taken."

josh drives a little bit longer into the downtown area. there's still holiday decorations and pretty lights everywhere, which is one of mia's favorite things about the season.

"do you have any idea where we're going?" josh asks with this cute, satisfied little smile for planning a surprise.

mia nods her head without any hesitation. "yeah. you're taking me iceskating at the park."

of course, josh is shocked by her answer. "how did you.." he trails off as the smile on his face slowly fades.

"because i know you," she grins. as she notices disappointment on his face she quickly shakes her head. "i think it's really cute that you wanted to surprise me, though. like worthy of kisses type cute."

he can just not crack a grin at that.

"that made me feel better, thanks," he laughs. he stops the car at a red light and glances at her expectantly.

"what?" she asks.

josh doesn't say anything, just puckers his lips at her. which is all she needs to know that her needy boyfriend wants a kiss, so she complies and gives him a peck on the lips.

"no," he frowns, dropping one of his hands from the steering wheel and cupping mia's cheek. "a real kiss."

mia resists the urge to make some sarcastic comment and presses her lips back against his. she's come to the conclusion that when you're kissing josh dun, nothing can really get better than that.

he doesn't break away until he hears the loud sound of a car horn. his eyes open back up and he sees that the traffic light is (and has been for a good ten seconds) green. "oops," he laughs with a not-so-sorry grin playing at his lips as he puts both of his hands back on the wheel and presses his foot on the gas.

when they arrive at the park the sun has set into the horizon and it's dark out. the ice rink is illuminated by string lights and the street lamps.

"are you cold?" josh asks mia for what has to be the seventh time since they left her apartment.

she looks up from the rental skates that she's tying on her feet. "josh, i'm fine. i have a coat on."

he shrugs his shoulders. "well yeah," he begins slowly, and by now he's full into his overly-precautious boyfriend mode. "but it's still cold out and i don't want you getting sick."

"you're so damn cute, y'know?" mia grins.

his cheeks blush red. "i'm serious," he mumbles shyly.

"yeah i know, babe, and your concern for my well being is extremely adorable," she points out and kisses his blushing cheek before standing up from the small bench they're seated on right outside the rink.

josh finishes the laces on his skates and glances at mia thoughtfully. "you have small feet."

"well you have big feet," she says back sassily, like the sarcastic lil shit she is.

"you know what they say about big feet.." trails off the now grinning boy while standing up.

mia smacks his arm, "quit making everything a sex joke, you loser," she laughs and then takes his hand to walk out on the ice. she hasn't been iceskating in years, and the feeling of not having complete balance is weird to get used to.

josh, however, is feeling like he's gonna bust his ass any second. the ice is all slippery and he's definitely not the best when it comes to being coordinated. his hand grips mia's so tightly to the point where she notices.

"you okay?" she asks with an amused laugh while watching josh's feet take the slowest of baby steps on the ice.

he nods his head insistently. "mhm."

mia turns around so that she's facing josh and gives him a determined look while grabbing both of his hands. "okay, c'mon," she grins and begins taking backwards little glides for josh to follow suit.

"wait," he blurts out suddenly, wavering a bit like he might fall and then squeezing her hands. "you're going too fast."

"josh, a five year old just lapped us."

"so?"

"so you're being ridiculous," she states, matter-of-a-factly and starts moving again. "just move your feet, babe."

he nods his head with his eyes looking down to make sure he doesn't slip and fall. it probably looks hilarious to everyone around them, and probably a 'relationship goals' moment, as well.

"see, you're getting it," mia nods and goes to stand next to him again.

his eyes widen, "don't let go of my hands," he tells her as he feels her drop one of his hands.

"josh you're fine," she laughs.

"you're keeping me balanced, i need you," he insists while they move slowly around the circular rink.

mia knows that he's talking about iceskating, but his words still sound cute so she grins at him. "okay, fine, i'll hold your hand."

"thank god, i-" he picks his head up to look at mia and in that moment he loses his footing and falls right on his ass.
