Chapter Forty

Umalis din kami ni Spencer kinabukasan. I sent a message to my family to greet them a Merry Christmas but nobody replied. I'd like to think that it's just a matter of time.

"Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, guys!" Kim hugged me na agad namang sinundan nina Irene at Lyka. I invited them over dahil sobrang busy na nila sa school and I was also busy with all the drama in my life, kabilang na ang maraming projects.

"So... Kumusta ang buhay mag-asawa?" Ngumisi si Irene at umupo sa couch.

Tumabi naman ako kay Spencer na agad akong inakbayan.

"Exciting," Siya ang sumagot. Aba. Akala mo naman siya ang tinatanong. At akala mo naman mag-asawa na nga talaga kami.

Humagikhik lang si Irene at kumuha ng pizza na nasa mesa.

The TV played one of the commercials I was in and everyone focused on it. Pinisil ni Spencer ang hita ko at hinalikan ang balikat ko. I know he's proud of me, I can feel it.

"Grabe, Ally, ang ganda ganda mo na!" Lyka commented just after the commercial.

"Syempre, hiyang," Singit naman ni Kim. Mga baliw talaga 'tong mga kaibigan ko.

Inirapan ko na lang sila and we caught up with each other. Nang pumunta sa kusina si Spencer ay mabilis ko silang pinalapit sa'kin.

"How's Chelssy?" Bulong ko.

"She's fine, I think. Busy sa org. Hindi na rin niya kami kinakausap, eh." Si Kim ang sumagot.

"How 'bout Spencer? May kagaguhan ba 'to sa school?" Kumunot ang noo ko. Kahit naman kasi ramdam kong nagbago na siya, I still can't help but think about his past, about how he used to be.

"I haven't seen Spencer with a girl so far. He's just hanging up with some members of A-Illusion," Irene answered.

I felt relieved and guilty at the same time. Alam kong hindi ko dapat siya pinagdududahan because relationship is about trust, right? Pero mababaliw yata ako kapag hindi ko malalaman kung kamusta nga ba siya sa school. I sighed. At least, kampante na ako.

Mabilis nga talaga ang oras kapag nag-eenjoy ka. Months felt like days, and in no time, sinasamahan ko na si Spencer bumili ng kan'yang damit para sa graduation. Hindi rin biro ang pinagdaanan niya sa thesis niya. There were times when he was an all-nighter and we had to practice his defense.

Which turned out to be really awkward. And we ended up just making love instead dahil doon daw siya magaling at hindi sa pag-defend defend na 'yan, his words, not mine.

On the other hand, I've been busy with all the workshops and back-to-back projects.

"When are you bringing your boyfriend here, Ally?" Adeline asked while on the treadmill. I felt Zach look at me from the other side of the gym.

"He's busy with school stuff. Pero sinusundo niya naman ako whenever he gets the chance," I said and kept on stretching. "Don't you have a boyfriend?"

"Hay naku, don't even get that girl started," Si Helga ang sumagot habang nasa isa pang treadmill. "Kaka-break lang nyan sa ex niyang bokalista and god, we were flooded by Adeline's tears! Hindi pa ata 'yan moved on, eh. She was so obsessed she even attended vocal lessons for him because apparently, the girl he liked before, has a golden voice and our girl is insecure."

Adeline rolled her eyes. "I've already moved on, girl. In fact, Miguel and I are close friends now!"

"Miguel?" I stopped to look at her. "Your ex-boyfriend is the Miguel of Serendipity?"
