I had woken up from an evening nap, and I couldn't find Shawn anywhere around the house. I walked towards the kitchen, rubbing my eyes while making my way there. I looked around to find that Shawn wasn't in the kitchen either. I sighed, wondering where he could be.
Just as I was about to turn around my ear picked up the faint sound of a guitar being strummed. That had to be Shawn. I walked closer to the patio doors in the kitchen, following the melody that was being played. I looked through the glass door, looking out into the dark. The only light came from the pool lights in the pool. I saw Shawn sitting on a lounge chair next to the pool, strumming on his guitar. A smile rose to my face, there he was.
I slid the patio door back and stepped out onto the concrete of the backyard. Shawn turned his head at the sound of the patio door. A smile stretched across his face. He stopped strumming his guitar and spoke up.
"Hey, Sleeping Beauty." Shawn said with a chuckle, causing a large smile to form on my face.
"What are you doing out here?" I asked, walking over to where he sat on the edge of his lounge chair. I could have sat on the lounge chair next to his but instead I sat behind him on his, wanting to be close to him. Shawn shrugged, lifting the neck of his guitar as he replied.
"I was just messing around a bit." He said."I was looking for you." I mumbled, wrapping my arms around his rib cage. I shivered, for it was a cold night. Shawn must have felt my shivering against his back.
"Here Babe," he mumbled, reaching for the hood of his pullover sweater, "put this on." He said after taking off his sweater, and then handing it to me. All he wore underneath it was a t-shirt.
"What about you?" I asked, taking the sweater from him.
"I'm alright." He responded with a smile.
"Thanks." I mumbled, placing a kiss on his cheek. I placed the baggy sweater over my head and slipped it on to my body. Then I wrapped my arms back around his rib cage. Both his sweater and body heat warmed me up instantly.Shawn set his guitar back on his legs before silently strumming a few chords. He stared at the pool, as if he were in a daze.
"What are you thinking about?" I asked, resting my cheek against his back.
"Oh nothing," he said, causing me to lift my head as he turned his body to look at me, "just about how much I love you." He smiled. I threw my head back and chuckled, finding it amusing when he tried to be cute.
"Sure you were," I chuckled, "but I love you too." I replied. He began strumming his guitar again, playing a random melody. I cleared my throat to speak up.
"Shawn?" I mumbled.
"Y/N?" He replied, with a smile. I smiled.
"Can you sing me one of your songs?" I asked.
"Sure, which one?" He asked, getting out of my grasp to turn around and face me.
"Surprise me." I mumbled, placing my arms on my lap.Shawn nodded, placing his fingers on the neck of the guitar. He cleared his throat before he began to sing.
"'I watch your troubled eyes as you rest, and I fall in love with every breath.'" He sang, making me smile wide. His song 'This Is What It Takes' was one of my favourites. He kept his eyes on me until the very end of the song, making my stomach flip over and over again. I couldn't keep the smile I had off of my face. He knew how to make me feel special. After strumming his last chord I clapped for him. Shawn placed his guitar on the ground with a smile.
"Thank you, thank you." He said, bowing a few times. I couldn't help but chuckle. Shawn moved closer to me, so close that our faces were inches away from each other. I smiled, knowing what was coming next. I searched his eyes, wondering what he was waiting for. I grasped his arms that were on either side of me, rubbing away his goosebumps. I stopped and let my hands fall.
"Kiss me." I mumbled, wanting him to be the one to make a move. A smirk played on his lips. He was being a tease.
"Fine." I mumbled, pulling my head back."No!" Shawn said before attacking my lips. I fell back, causing him to fall with me. I had to laugh through the kiss and so did he. When he pulled away, chuckling, I noticed the night sky above us. There were so many stars, twinkling through the dark.
"Babe look," I said pointing to the sky, causing him to shift his weight on his side to look up, "the stars. They're beautiful." I mumbled in awe.
"Just like you." Shawn replied, looking back at me. I lifted my head and placed a quick kiss on his lips, causing him to smile. He sat up and moved towards the back of the chair, leaning his back against it.
"Come here." He mumbled, holding his arms out for me. I crawled a short distance to where he rested, and was engulfed by his embrace. I rested the back of my head on his shoulder, to look up at the night sky just as he did. As my eyes skimmed over the crescent moon and the bright stars around it, I caught sight of a shooting star."Look, a shooting star!" I said, pointing towards it. It was gone in the blink of an eye, but I still stared at the sky in awe.
"Make a wish." I whispered, tilting my head to look up at Shawn.
"I don't need too." He replied, wrapping his arms tighter around me.
"I already got everything I want." He whispered, looking down at me. I sat up with a smile on my face. The truth was that I didn't need to wish either, for I had everything I've always wanted right here beside me.
"Me too." I responded, softly placing my lips on his.///
