"I'm pregnant."
The room fell silent, causing the sounds from the ballroom to be faintly heard from Shawn's bedroom. I stood there nervous, biting my bottom lip and playing with my slightly trembling fingers as I stared at him. There was no expression on his face, and it looked as if he were in a daze. With no expression on his face it was hard to tell what he was thinking. The music coming from the ballroom downstairs stopped, reminding me that the party was carrying on without Shawn.
"Shawn." I mumbled, realizing that we didn't have much time before people would come looking for him. Calling his name pulled him out of his daze. He looked down at the ground before looking back up at me, and this time there was mixed emotions on his face. I could see the slight excitment as to having a child but also the fear of what his parents were going to think. This pregnancy was going to get us into a lot of trouble for a lot of different reasons. A small smile formed on his face, making me feel the slightest bit of relief.
"You're pregnant?" He asked, slowly walking closer towards me. He searched my eyes waiting for my reply, and I searched his wondering what he was thinking. He wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling my body closer to his. I nodded as a response. His smile grew larger.
"This is amazing." He said, looking down at my stomach.
"This is going to get us into a lot of trouble." I responded, worry evident in my voice and likely visible on my face. My reply caused Shawn to look back up at me. I could tell that he was thinking, likely trying to look for the right words to say. He sighed and nodded as a response.
"But we'll figure it out." He whispered, caressing the side of my face and brushing his thumb along my cheek.
"This ruins the life that your parents had planned out for you." I replied, guilt on my part starting to eat away at me.
"Forget it. Those plans were ruined a long time ago, when I fell in love with you." He said, sencerity in his eyes. A small smile formed on my lips. I rose on my toes and placed my lips on his, giving him a quick kiss. When I pulled away he spoke up again.
"You don't have to worry about anything, let me handle it. Everything is going to be alright." He whispered.
"So, you're not upset?" I asked. Shawn shook his head with a small smile on his face.
"This baby might have just saved my life."
The next day I met Shawn outside at our usual spot, and he brought me with him passed the Palace's walls. We walked hand in hand down the long halls of the palace, our footsteps echoing in the large space. As we walked past the odd maids and butlers they stared at us in surprise, whispering to one another as they noticed our hands joined together. I looked over at Shawn and saw that he noticed their whispering just as I had. He looked down at me with a smile, squeezed my hand, and continued to guide me through the hallways.
A few minutes later we stopped infront of two large doors. Shawn placed his ear against one of them and then turned to face me.
"My parents are in there." He said, causing nerves to build up within my body. I nodded in response letting him continue.
"You wait here, and I'll go talk to them. Alright?" He asked, searching my eyes. I nodded my head and responded back.
"Alright." I whispered. Shawn smiled and leaned down to kiss me.
"I'll be right back." He said after pulling away, before disappearing through the large doors. As I watched the doors close behind him I noticed that one of them hadn't closed all the way, leaving a little crack for me to hear everything.
