I could hear the party music, blaring from the house where the party was taking place, from all the way down the street. Walking towards the front door of the house I couldn't help but notice the people around me. There were intoxicated people on the lawn, people making out on the porch, and then there were others who were just sitting around and conversing. As I was walking up the stairs of the porch a guy almost ran into me, but I dodged him before we could collide.
"Sorry." He laughed, sounding as if he had a few to drink. I couldn't help but roll my eyes.I didn't like parties much, the only reason I really went to them was because Shawn did. Shawn was into this kind of environment, he found it entertaining, while I on the other hand didn't see it as much fun. When I entered the house my eardrums began to beat, reacting to the loud music. There were lights glowing throughout the house, turning an array of colours. The house was packed, so packed that you couldn't get by anyone without brushing against them. It was so hot, and it almost felt as if there was a lack of oxygen in the room because it was being used up by the fifty plus people here. I started to question myself, asking myself why I left home to come here. I then thought about my Mother and how she made me angry, and then I thought about Shawn and how much I wanted to see him. I needed to find Shawn.
I began to push past people to find him.
"Shawn!" I called through the large swarm of people, hoping he would hear my calls for him. Even though the loud music made it hard to hear really anything I continued to call for him.
"Shawn!" I called again. Some guy who was dancing turned around to look at me. He pointed at his chest with a questioning look on his face.
"No, not you!" I screamed over the music. He just nodded his head before turning back around to dance. I was almost ready to give up after feeling like I had been searching for hours, but then I found him. He was sitting on a couch, next to a girl. I could tell that she was trying to flirt with him by her posture and where she was sitting, which was rather close to him. She even put her hands on him but he pushed them away. Through the crowds of people our eyes eventually met. A smile rose to Shawn's face. He got up from the couch, leaving the girl to sit alone, and made his way towards me.I turned around when I felt a hand on my backside. I turned around to see a guy I had not recognized. He reeked of alcohol and cheap cologne, and he held a red cup in his opposite hand that wasn't on me.
"Hey, Baby." He said, trying to lean in towards my face.
"Get your hand off of me, you creep!" I said, slapping his hand away.
"Hey!" I heard Shawn's voice yell, when I turned my head Shawn was right in front of me. Shawn didn't even look at me, his eyes were glaring at the guy who grabbed me. Shawn grabbed him by the collar of his shirt, causing the guy to lose balance. The contents of his drink spilled a bit from the sudden movement.
"What makes you think you can put your hands on her?!" Shawn asked in anger.
"Sh-She's with y-you?" The guy stuttered. Some people standing around us began to stare.
"Yeah, she's my girl. You don't just go around grabbing girls, psycho. Now beat it, before I change my mind and decide to kick your ass." Shawn said, anger still laced in his voice. The guy looked at Shawn with wide eyes, fear evident on his face. He backed away as soon as Shawn let go of his shirt, almost tripping while doing so.When he disappeared among the crowd Shawn turned to me. He placed his arm around my waist, holding me in a secure embrace.
"Are you alright?" Shawn asked, searching for the answer within my eyes. I nodded my head.
"I'm fine." I said. My eyes made contact with the girl who had been sitting on the couch next to Shawn, she looked at me with jealousy.
"Who's she?" I asked. Shawn followed my gaze.
"I don't really know." Shawn laughed.
"But you don't have to worry about it, I'm not interested." He said becoming serious. His grasp on me tightened. I looked up at him and saw the sincerity in his eyes, making me feel better."Can we get out of here?" I asked, desperate for the fresh air outside.
"What?!" Shawn yelled over the music that seemed louder then it was before.
"I want to leave!" I yelled back. Shawn looked around before looking back down at me. Shawn nodded his head. He grabbed my hand and entwined my fingers with his, leading me through the crowd of people. As soon as we left Shawn offered to drop me off at home if home was where I wanted to go. After being around the party environment I felt tired and wanted to be at home, despite the argument my Mother and I had.
"Let me see your neck." Shawn mumbled, causing us to stop. I moved my hair back and tilted my head.
"I covered it with make up, so I don't know if you can see it." I replied.
"I can see it." Shawn chuckled. He brushed his fingers along my neck where the mark was.
"I got you good." Shawn laughed. I playfully slapped Shawn on the arm, pushing him out of my way. I couldn't help but chuckle myself.
"So now you can't see me anymore?" Shawn asked, catching up to me and grabbing my hand.
"Nope," I said as I entwined my fingers with his, "apparently you are just too bad of an influence on me." . We were silent for a moment.
"There is no way she could make me stay away from you." Shawn said with a slight chuckle. I looked at him and saw the love he felt for me in his eyes.
"Same here." I replied, swinging our arms as we continued down the street. We got to my house not long after that. We made it to my bedroom window without being seen.
"I would come inside, but..." Shawn said, causing me to laugh. I hit him in the chest, causing him to groan. He chuckled. He wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling my closer to him.
"Will I see you tomorrow?" Shawn asked, biting his lip.
"That depends." I replied, tilting my head as I looked at him.
"Will you come get me?" I asked. Shawn nodded his head.
"I'll text you when my mom leaves." I mumbled, causing Shawn to chuckle. I stood on my toes, brushing my lips against his. Shawn pressed his lips against mine, unable to take my teasing behaviour.
"Text me." Shawn mumbled, pulling his lips away from mine after a while of them being attached. I nodded my head before walking out of his embrace.
"I love you." I said, as I headed towards my bedroom window.
"I love you too." Shawn said, something he never said to anyone until he fell for me.Once I got into my bedroom I heard the footsteps of someone coming up the stairs. It was probably my Mom, causing me to panic. I threw off my sweater and ran to my laptop, opening it up to an old paper. I sat down just in time before my Mother opened the door of my bedroom. I turned to look at her, placing the end of a pen between my teeth.
"What are you doing?" My Mom asked, looking around my room from where she stood.
"I'm just writing my history paper." I lied.
"I can see that you got a lot done." She said, squinting as she stared at my laptop. I nodded my head.
"Yeah." I said.
"See what you can get done when that one isn't around." My Mom said referring to Shawn. I turned my head and rolled my eyes. When I turned back around I nodded.
"Alright, I let you get back to it." She said before closing the door behind her. I couldn't help but quietly chuckle realizing that she hadn't known that I snuck out.I sighed as I stared at my laptop screen. I closed the document of the old paper and opened a new one. I sighed once again. Now I really had to write my history paper. I then began to type.
