"Shawn, where are we going?" I chuckled, looking around the street that we walked down, snow crunching beneath our feet. It was a dark and cold evening, causing me to shiver and tighten my grip on Shawn's arm.
"You'll see." He replied with a smile, his breath visible in the cold air.It was Shawn and I's one year anniversary since he had asked me to be his girlfriend. He had to be at the studio all day, so the only time we had to celebrate was now.
"I can't feel anything." I said, shivering from the cold once again.
"My lips are frozen." I mumbled. Shawn stopped walking and faced me with a grin. His cheeks were slightly pink from the cold.
"I can help with that." He mumbled, before pressing his lips to mine. I couldn't help but chuckle and smile through the kiss. He pulled away, chuckling too.We eventually reached the place Shawn wanted to take me too. It was a small park, lit with the orange glow of light posts. There was nobody around but me and him.
"A park?" I questioned.
"Yeah," he smiled down at me, "but it's not just any park.". I looked at him with a puzzled expression, causing him to chuckle.
"Do you not remember?" He asked. I tried looking around the park, wondering what was so significant about it, but it was too dark."This is where I asked you to go on a date with me." He said, looking around with a smile. A small feeling of guilt came over me. How could I have not recognized the park? Clearly it held significance to our relationship. The park just looked so different in the dark.
"The best decision I ever made was saying yes." I replied, letting go of his arm and instead wrapping my arms around his rib cage. We continued to walk through the park, carrying on our conversation.
"I was so nervous." Shawn said. I looked at him as if he were crazy.
"Really?" I questioned.
"You didn't seem nervous when you asked." I smiled, remembering the moment."I was, but that was the first time I had the guts to ask you out." He replied.
"That was the best decision I ever made." He said. My stomach did a flip, and a large smile grew on my face. I couldn't help but stop walking, and place a quick kiss on his lips.We continued down the park path, and we approached the small pond that the park had, causing me to draw attention to it.
"Look," I pointed to the pond, "the pond is frozen.".
"Oh yeah." Shawn mumbled. He removed my arms from his rib cage, but he grabbed my hand and led me to the iced pond.
"What are you doing?" I asked. He didn't respond. He stopped at the edge of the pond, just before the layer of ice. He slowly placed one foot on the ice.
"Shawn." I said, causing him to look at me.
"It's solid." He said with a cute grin.
"That part is," I responded, "but the ice may be thin over there." I said pointing to the other side of the pond. I could see us both now, falling into the freezing pond water."Babe," Shawn chuckled, "it's the middle of Winter, it should be fine.".
"Plus," he continued, "there are skate marks on the ice. Someone has been on this before we have. It's solid.".
"Come on." He said, stepping his other foot on to the ice. He didn't fall through the ice, so I figured that it would be alright to walk on the pond. Plus, it looked like it would be a lot of fun. I playfully rolled my eyes, giving in to him."Alright." I replied, causing a big smile to appear on his face. Shawn stretched out his hands, waiting for me to grab them. I placed my hands in his and he carefully helped me on to the ice. I got both of my feet on the ice, but as soon as I made my first step I almost wiped out. I shrieked, causing Shawn to laugh. Shawn grabbed me instantly, with a firm grasp, saving me from the fall.
"It's not funny." I chuckled.
"Oh, but it is." He replied.Shawn grabbed my hands again, slowly pulling me across the ice.
"Woah." Shawn mumbled, close to slipping himself. I laughed as I watched him try and regain his balance. Shawn couldn't help but chuckle at himself.
When we got to the middle of the pond Shawn spun me around and began to sing his song 'kid in Love'. We danced on the pond, occasionally laughing. There were also times where one of us almost fell, causing more laughter to leave our lips. I even sang along to the lyrics of the song. I was having so much fun that I completely forgot about the cold.He eventually stopped singing and we just stood there, wrapped in each other's arms, laughing. Once our laughter died down I spoke up.
"I'm glad." I mumbled. Shawn looked at me, likely wondering what I was referring too.
"You're glad about what?" He asked.
"I'm glad that you had the guts to ask me out that day." I mumbled. Our eyes stared into each other's, mine finding it hard not to get lost in his. Shawn smiled, leaning his face towards mine.
"Me too." He mumbled against my lips, before pressing his to mine.///
