People flooded into the palace, one group after another. The ballroom where the party was hosted was lit with orange light. Women in lavish gowns and men in stylish suits danced on the ballroom floor, or simply stood around it socializing. The royals, including Shawn, had not yet made their entrance. I stood there, in a decent dress, holding a tray filled with glasses of champagne. As I looked over the many women in the room I wondered if Shawn's betrothed was one of them, though there was a possibility that she had not yet arrived.

"Champagne?" I asked as a group of guests walked past me. Some thanked me as they took a glass, while others acted as if I was invisible. I shrugged that off, not taking it personally. As I made my way around the ballroom with the silver tray in hand I over heard a conversation that sparked my interest.

"I heard that Prince Shawn was meeting his betrothed tonight." A man said, just before taking a sip of his champagne.

"So have I." said a woman across from him.

"Princess Elena I believe," said another man, "it doesn't look as though she is here yet though." he said, looking around.

Just then the whole room began to clap, and they all looked in the same direction. I followed their gaze to the large staircase across the room. There at the very top stood the King, the Queen, and Shawn, the Prince. I noticed that Shawn's eyes skimmed over the room as if he were looking for someone. I wasn't sure if that someone was me or his betrothed, Princess Elena. The room quieted down just as the Queen began to speak.

"Thank you all for coming. Tonight is a very special night, and we are so glad that you are here to spend it with us." she said, looking over at Shawn who returned a small smile.

"Let the party begin!" she said in excitement, causing the room to clap once again. The royals then began to make their way down the staircase. As I watched Shawn walk down the stairs my stomach began to knot, for I needed to talk to him. As he descended down the stairs I also couldn't help but admire how handsome he looked.

"Y/N!" Natalie called, another server who was helping with the party. I looked away from Shawn to look at her.

"Yes?" I asked, extending the tray as a man reached to grab a glass.

"Since you are the only tray filled with drinks right now I need you to go up to the royals and offer them a beverage." She said, holding her empty tray against her stomach.

"Now?" I asked, beginning to feel nervous.

"No, tomorrow." She chuckled, shaking her head. She pushed me in the direction of the staircase. I gulped down the nerves that built up at the back of my throat. I think that I was more nervous to go over there because of the King and Queen, for I have been seeing their son behind their back. The royals had made it down the stairs by the time I had approached them. Shawn's eyes had caught mine when I was only a few steps away from them. We looked at each other as if we had never associated before. I cleared my throat before speaking.

"Champagne?" I asked, bowing in front of them. Once I had rose the King had reached for a glass.

"Thank you my dear." He said, giving me a warm smile. The queen politely declined, a warm smile on her face as well.

I then averted my gaze to Shawn, his eyes were already on mine.

"Champagne?" I asked, extending the tray. He nodded his head and reached out to grab a glass.

"Thank you." He responded, trying not to stare at me too much as if that might give us away. I nodded my head as a response. I extended the tray to the side when a man came up and reached for two glasses, not even bothering to thank me before walking away.
