Shawn and I had the house to ourselves, and how did we spend that time? Watching a scary movie. We sat in my living room on the same couch, the sides of our bodies pressed tightly together. The house was dark and silent, the only light and sound came from the television. I wasn't into watching scary movies because I was one to get scared easily. Shawn knew this but still had me watch them anyway.
Suspenseful music arose causing me to pull the blanket that draped over Shawn and I up to my eyes. I could hear Shawn's laughter along with the crunch of a popcorn being eaten, and feel his eyes on me. I turned my head to face him, the blanket still shielding my view from the TV screen.
"Babe, stop." I whined, knowing that he was laughing at me.
"No," He laughed again, "this is hilarious.".
"I'm glad you find me amusing." I replied, turning my gaze back to the fabric. The suspenseful music had stopped, but I still wasn't sure if I should remove the blanket from my eyes.
"You can look now Babe, nothing's there." Shawn said, followed by another crunching of popcorn.
"Are you sure?" I asked.
"Yeah. This isn't the first time I've seen this Y/N." He replied.
"Okay." I said trusting him. Turns out that was something I couldn't do. Right when I pulled the blanket away from my face the most scariest face popped up on the televison screen. I screamed out of fear.Shawn's laughter filled my ears once again, but this time it was louder. I turned over to Shawn who held his hand over his stomach as he laughed. I smacked him in the shoulder, still shook-up from the scary surprise.
"Shawn that wasn't funny!" I yelled, shoving his shoulder. He wiped his eyes and his laughter began to die down. I felt the water that had built up in my eyes. I must have been to scared to notice."That wasn't funny." I said again, only mumbling it this time. I moved away from him, but not to far.
"I didn't expect you to listen." He chuckled, putting the bowl of popcorn he had on the table in front of us. He continued once he noticed my distance.
"Aw Babe, come here. I didn't mean too scare you." He said trying to grab me, but I moved his hands away."If I wasn't scared I would have left the room already." I said, crossing my arms over my chest. Shawn reached over and grabbed me, placing me on his lap.
"Y/N, I'm sorry. I won't do it again. Stay and watch the movie with me." He said right against my ear. His arms wrapped securely around my waist, keeping me in a tight embrace.I wasn't even sure what was happening in the movie at the moment but for him I decided to stay, and I trusted him when he said that he wouldn't try and scare me again. He drapped the blanket over us and gave me a kiss on the cheek before focussing back on the movie that played.
About twenty minutes later Shawn paused the movie and asked me to get up from his lap.
"I'm going to go to the bathroom really quick, I'll be right back." He said getting up from the couch. I looked around the dark room and fear began to build up in my chest.
"Wait!" I said, grabbing his arm. He stopped and looked down at me, a small smirk playing on his lips.
"I'll go with you." I said, getting off of the couch.Shawn laughed before replying.
"That sounds tempting, but no.". Shawn moved closer to me and pressed his lips against mine. He pulled his lips away and then reconnected them for a quick kiss.
"Wait here. Count up to fifty and I'll be back." He said, rushing out of the living room.Sitting in the dark alone with the paused movie and the silent atmosphere I began to freak out. Scary faces and thoughts kept rushing through my mind. I only counted up to seven before getting up off of the couch and running out of the living room to look for Shawn.
"Shawn." I mumbled as I walked around the dark house.
"I counted to fifty." I lied, making my way to the bathroom. When I got there he wasn't there, the door was open and the lights were off as if he had never been there.I heard a creek of the floorboards to the left of me, making me look down the hallway I stood in.
"Shawn?" I called. I could feel my heart rate increase in my chest. I got no reply, but instead heard another creek. Just as I was about to switch the bathroom light on something jumped out at me from the dark. I screamed as the thing wrapped it's arms around me, pushing us forward into the bathroom. I realized that thing was Shawn when I recognized his laughter in my ear.I switched the bathroom light on and saw Shawn's reflection hugging me from behind in the mirror.
"Shawn!" I whined, turning in his embrace to face him. I hit him across the chest.
"I couldn't help it, you were just so vulnerable!" He chuckled. He placed a kiss on my cheek. He pulled his face back and stared at me.
"Wow, you're really shaken up, aren't you?" He asked. He hugged me and rubbed the small of my back, rocking me back and forth."We don't have to watch the rest of the movie Babe. I'll go turn it off." He said, pulling back from the hug to look at me. I nodded my head causing him to chuckle. We went down stairs and Shawn did as he said by turning the movie off. After that he walked over to the other couch that he had placed his jacket on earlier.
"What do you think you're doing?" I asked as he began to put his jacket on. He looked over at me with a confused facial expression. I walked over to him and took the jacket off."I take it that I'm staying here for the night?" He asked. My parents were out of town for the weekend so that meant that Shawn could stay the night.
"How else do you think I'll be able to fall asleep?" I asked, taking his hand and dragging him to my bedroom. It took me a while to fall asleep, but Shawn made it easier by cuddling with me and running his fingers through my hair.
"Sing to me?" I asked. Shawn kissed the top of my head before quietly singing to me. Shortly after I had fallen asleep, with no thoughts of the movie playing in my mind.///
