It was a torrid summer. Jade is sitting alone on a bench at the city plaza near their house. She misses her bestfriend Althea. The latter went to University of Sto. Tomas for her BAR Examination ; she really wanted be a lawyer. Jade was also saddened because for the first time they were not together. How she loves the girl so much and she was excited to see her again when she comes home. She will tell her that she loves her. And she can't help but remember their past years together.
Jade Castronuevo and Althea Fuentebella were bestfriends since their early years. they were neighbors as well and playmates. They go to church together and sing in the choir. they have the same school and they always go together. Noone can separate them. Thea has now graduated and is ready for the BAR exams while Jade is a medical student, yet they're inseparable. they were sometimes mistaken as lovers because Thea is a lesbian the she will only jokingly deny it saying "Si Jade, girlfriend ko? Di ko to type noh. Hindi kami talo." Then they'll start laughing. but Jade doesn't know that Thea was hurting because she wishes that they were more than that. She's in love with her bestfriend but she doesn't want to ruin their friendship cause she knows Jade is straight. She loves Jade so much that she can't afford to lose her. What she doesn't know is that Jade feels the same way; at first confused of how she feels but as time goes on her feelings for Thea grew deeper. And she knows that Thea has a huge crush with their University president, Kathleen. So she just kept it to herself. They're happy being the bestest of friends.
But time has come for them to part ways. Thea will be taking the exams and is about to go to UST. After the Sunday mass, she brought Jade to their favorite hang out in the plaza. They sat down and were both silent for a moment. Neither of them wants to say someting because they know the reason why they're here. Jade is almost bursting into tears.
"I'll be back right away. Promise as soon as the Bar is done, I'll be home," Thea started. I won't stay there long. I'll buy you pasalubong."
"Promise?" jade now crying. "Ayoko ng pasalubong. i just want you to be back right away." she pouted.
"Yes bossing." Thea smiled. Jade was so happy to hear that so she hugged her bestfriend tight. Thea was surprised with the gesture but she hugged her too, even kissed her forehead.
"By the way, here this is for you." Thea said while handing Jade a letter. "But promise me you'll only read that when I'm already gone."
'What's this?" Jade asked arching her brows. "Why can't I read this now?"
"Basta. wag na kasing makulit." Thea said. "Let's go I'll buy you fries." Then they headed to their favorite fastfood to buy something to eat and started their way home.
