Friend. A great friend. The words repeated in my head over and over again as I walked home alone. I guess I got the wrong idea from Michael, we weren't hitting it off as much as I thought we were. I groaned and unlocked the door to my apartment. "Joy, I'm home."

She didn't respond, and so I followed the scent of warm pizza to the kitchen. She was sat there, her laptop in front of her, earphones in.

"Oh, hello!" Joy looked up at me with a smile, a slice of pizza in her hand. "Didn't hear you come in! Help yourself to some pizza, I want to hear all about your date!"

I laughed awkwardly. "Yeah...about that...I don't think it was a date. Michael said, and I quote, 'You're a great friend, Josie.'"

Joy frowned. "Oh, Josie...you don't know that he meant it that way...do you?"

I sighed and took a bite of the pizza. "I think he only thinks of me as a friend, Joy. I think I'm gonna call in sick tomorrow, I just don't feel like going to work."

Joy nodded and looked at me. "Will you let me dye your hair correctly?"

I sighed. "Why not? I mean, I've got no one to impress anymore, so let's do it."

Joy led me into the bathroom, an evil smirk on her lips. She wrapped my shoulders in a towel and sectioned my hair, starting to cover my hair in the disgustingly gloopy hair dye. It was a deep blue, and I honestly felt idiotic for not noticing it before.

After a long period of waiting, she rinsed my hair out in the sink and blowdried it, revealing my deep blue hair.

I smiled. "I like it, it's nice."
Joy grinned. "Good. Cuz I'm not gonna let you have normal hair ever again."
