I sat next to Michael in his car, on the way back home. "How long can you stay here?"
He didn't take his eyes off the road. "I have to leave tomorrow."
"Really?" I frowned. "Is that for certain?"
"I love you so much, Josie."
I turned to look at Michael and saw he was crying. "Michael?"
"I...I don't know what's wrong with me," he said, sighing. "I'm not sad."
I giggled. "Are you happy-crying?"
He frowned. "Men don't happy-cry."
I poked his arm. "This man does."
He took a hand off the steering wheel to wipe a stray tear. "I'm still really manly, right?"
"The manliest. I love you, Mikey."
"Would you do anything for me? Like, is it that kind of love?"
"Of course...Michael, is there something wrong?"
He pulled the car over to the side of the road. "Everything's more than fine."
"Mikey, what's going on?"
He unbuckled himself and opened the door. "Stay there." I watched him walk around the side of the car to my side, and he opened the door for me. "Here. Come out here."
I stepped outside, freezing. "It's so cold, Michael."
He took my hand and started running. I heard something fall to the ground and spun around to try to see it but then Michael grabbed it before I could catch a glance.
"What is that?"
"What is what?" He cocked an eyebrow at me, and I shrugged.
"Nothing, I guess."
He smiled and sat down next to a tree. I followed suit and sat down next to him, leaning my head on his chest.
"Hey, Josie."
"Yeah, Michael?"
"Wanna play titanic? You be iceberg, and I'll go down."
I laughed and covered my face. "Wow. Alright. I wasn't expecting that."
"Sorry."
"Happy Valentine's Day by the way."
Michael laughed. "Happy Valentine's Day." He looked down at me. "Do you realise how long we've been together now?"
I smirked. "Almost three years."
He laughed. "It's crazy. And the band has come so far. It's all because of you."
"It is," I agreed, flipping my hair.
He placed a hand on my cheek and leaned in, gently pressing his lips against mine. "I can't bear being apart from you for another stretch of time..."
"I know, me neither."
"Hey, Josie, will you stand up for a second?"
I raised an eyebrow. "Why? I'm really comfortable here." I kissed Michael's neck, hoping he'd stay put.
"No, Josie. Stand up."
I groaned and stood reluctantly, watching as Michael stood as well, smiling at me. He slowly wrapped his arms around my waist and smiled genuinely, leaning in for a deep kiss. When he finally pulled away, he looked almost unreadable.
"I love you," I whispered.
He crouched down, then shot right back up. "Nope. Not now."
"Mikey?" My heart was racing.
"Oh, screw it. Josie Kennedy, do you want to get married?"
"No."
