"Hello, Mrs. Kennedy, I'm Michael." Michael reached forward and grabbed my mother's hand, giving it a polite shake. "Nice to meet you, Mr. Kennedy."

"It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Michael," my father said, smiling at the blue haired boy in front of me. "Come on in."

"The pleasure is all his," I said, trying my best to not seem angry, but most likely failing. "Trust me."

Michael chuckled. "We didn't sleep much last night, pardon us--" His face turned bright red as my father raised an eyebrow. "That's not what I meant at all. We were watching movies."

I ran a hand through my hair, immediately regretting dating this boy. I kicked his ankle and shook my head. "Just stop talking. You're digging yourself into a hole."

Michael nodded and laughed somewhat awkwardly as my mother came back into the room with a bottle of wine. "Michael, are you alright with beer? Or would you like some of this?"

Michael held up a hand. "Beer is perfect, Mrs. Kennedy, thank you so much."

"Oh please, Michael. Call me Meredith. Mrs. Kennedy is my mother-in-law." She smiled sweetly at Michael and handed him a bottle of beer. When she saw the look on my face, she handed me two bottles. "Alright, let's all get comfortable, Josie, can you come and help me in the kitchen?"

I quickly followed her in and she placed her hands on my shoulders, looking in my eyes. "Josie, what's wrong?"

I sighed, holding back tears. "I...Michael...I don't know, but I think Michael might be..." I lowered my voice even more. "Cheating on me."

Her eyes widened. "Josie, from what you've told me, Michael is not the boy to do something like that. What makes you think that he'd do such a thing?"

I let one tear roll down my cheek. "He had texts on his phone from a random number...it was a girl..."

She frowned and was about to say something when I interrupted her. "Can we just have dinner really quickly? I'm sorry, but I need to talk this through with him."

She nodded. "Of course, love. We're here if you need to come back over."

We came back into the dining room with the food, and I saw my dad and Michael joking about something, looking at...something.

"Oh, Josie was such an adorable baby."

I laughed loudly, catching their attention and glaring at the two of them. "Seriously, dad?"

"Sorry, I just want to show Michael what your children may look like in the future!"

Michael's eyes widened as he whipped his head back to look at my father. "C-children?"

"Oh, I know you've at least thought of it."

"Calm down, dad. We probably won't last past the New Year."

Michael looked back at me. "Wow, it's great to know you've got such faith in us, Josie."

"Let's all sit down and eat," my mother said, half-smiling, her left eye twitching.
