"They're not going to like me, Michael," I said, pulling at the hem of my dress. "Is this dress too short?"

Michael looked me up and down. "No. You look hot."

I frowned. "It's too short then."

"Are you trying to look Amish or something? It's fine, the dress isn't too long."

I wrapped my arms around Michael's neck. "I just want them to like me."

Michael kissed me. "They'll love you. And we all know it's going to go better than when I met your parents."

I laughed awkwardly. "Yeah. That's just a great thing to bring up. Not a bright moment in my life."

Michael laughed and then grabbed my jacket, holding it out for me. "Let's go."

We got in the car and Michael sat there, fiddling with his jacket. "What's wrong Michael, do you have something wrong with the pocket of your jacket? Here, let me help--"

"NO GET OFF!" He pushed me back and then smiled a very uncomfortable smile, like a child that had been caught drawing on the walls. "I mean, I'm good. I don't need help, thanks."

I watched as he mumbled something random and pulled at the pocket in his jacket. I rolled my eyes and grabbed Michael's hand. "Mikey. I think you need help."

He shook his head vigorously. "Uh--distraction--" I raised an eyebrow. "Wanna make out?"

I laughed. "What?"

"Oh, come on. When was the last time we had a really good make-out session? We'd be early if we left now, anyways."

I looked at him as though he was insane. "Uh...are you alright Michael?"

"I'm the best kisser you've ever kissed, I bet."

I laughed. "You are, but does that have anything to do with this right now? What's in your pocket?"

"Just give me a little kiss."

I rolled my eyes and leaned forward, giving Michael a small kiss. Before I had a chance to pull away, however, he'd already wrapped his arms around me. Instead of trying to fight him, I just caved, kissing him back. He pushed me against the door on my side, not breaking the kiss. I wrapped my arms around his neck and enjoyed the feeling of the cold air blowing into the car mixed with the warmth of Michael.

Just when he wasn't expecting it, I reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out what was inside. Michael stared at me, eyes wide open. "Josie! That's supposed to be a surprise."

It was a small box. "Can I open it?"

He nodded, cheeks turning red. "I mean, yeah, sure."

There was a gorgeous necklace inside, a heart with intricate designs inside. "Is this for me?"

He nodded. "Do you like it?"

I smiled and kissed him. "I love it." I then looked out the windshield and pointed, a huge smile on my face. "To the Clifford residence!"
