~Time Skip~
I look at my reflection just as I finish tweaking my outfit for the evening. I wore a simple, white button-up shirt; a black button club top with a lace tied back; a royal blue blazer; a matching skater skirt; a pair of thick black tights; and glossy black high heels. Instead of wearing my mother's necklace, which I feared might've fallen off, I wrapped a royal blue ribbon around my neck and tie a bow at the end to make it look more put together. I pick up my father's ring from my vanity, but decide to opt out. I'd rather not lose my father's precious ring either. I comb out my short hair and place a thin, royal blue hair band on top.
I sigh as I look at my reflection, tilting my head in the process. I never thought that I would ever be celebrating my birthday, let alone my eighteenth birthday. I never thought that I would ever have to go through anything like this in my life. I'm in the middle of a catastrophe between the dead and living, and here I am trying to be normal. I'm not normal, but I have to learn to accept my fate.
I was taken out of my thoughts when I heard a knock on my door.
"Come in," I say.
Then, Aunt Rose; who was rocking a tight, yet flowing, red dress that dragged along the floor, red stiletto heels, and a red blazer; walks into my room. "Hello, Catherine," she says.
"Hey, Aunt Rose."
"How are you feeling?"
"A little nervous," I respond.
"It's going to be okay. It's your special day. I bet nothing is going to ruin it." She hugs me.
"I hope so."
She sighs and puts her hands on my shoulders to look at me, "Don't let that dream get to you, Catherine. It was only a nightmare."
"You knew."
"Of course I knew. You can't keep secrets from your auntie. That and Sebastian told me about it this morning."
"Of course he did," I blankly say, completely not surprised.
"But, it's not like I haven't heard this before. Tom would always tell me about your recurring nightmares. And I don't think you remember me saying this, but I always said that Sebastian would be out there to protect you just like he did when you were a baby."
I sigh, "Of course, he's always there for me, even when I don't want him there."
"And, may he always be there for you even after you two have children."
"WHAT!!!" I look at Aunt Rose with the most horrific face I could ever bestow upon her.
"Oh don't give me that face, Catherine. I've seen the way he looks at you for a while now. Is there something between you two that I should know about?" She raises her eyebrow.
"How the hell did you know about the kiss?" I mumble.
"What?! He kissed you!! Do I need to have a talk with him?"
"That is beside the point, Aunt Rose!!" I mentally slap myself for my stupidity. Last thing I needed from her was dating advice. "Why is it, all of a sudden, that everyone 'ships' me and Sebastian together?"
"Oh please, Catherine, this is right on the point. Everyone has always seen it ever since you turned seventeen. Your workers, your friends, and I have always talked about it."
"And, I'm barely hearing about this now!"
"Anyways, back to the topic at hand, when did he kiss you?"
"Um, a while back. I don't exactly remember the time and date. It was the same night I told you and everyone else about my true self."
"Oh Catherine, this is amazing new!! I can't believe I'm barely hearing about this now!! Wait; was this your first kiss?"
"Y-Yes." My cheeks begin to heat up and turn pink. Just before Aunt Rose could say anything else, speak of the devil or should I say demon, Sebastian opens the door.
"Catherine and Miss Rose, the guest are just arriving," he says.
"Finally!!" I push myself away from the situation at hand and rush out the room before my aunt could protest.
But, my luck ran out when Rose spoke up, yet again. "Sebastian, you better be good to her. She can be quite a hand full. And, if you ever hurt her, I will hunt you down."
"Aunt Rose!!! Don't you dare speak of this!!"
"Don't worry, Miss Rose, I'll promise to treat her well. Anyways, I've always treated her that way ever since we've started, how you say, dating."
"What?! When did that happen?!" By this time, I knew my face was as red as a tomato.
"Oh, I thought I made it pretty clear when I kissed you about a week ago," he says. He gives me a devious smirk.
"Oh god, this can't be happening to me right now."
"I was thinking Sebastian. You two should have an outdoor wedding," Aunt Rose explains. She wraps an arm around Sebastian's shoulder.
"I just turned eighteen. This isn't the time to talk about marriage!! If I knew you two were going to talk about marriage arrangements, I wouldn't have agreed to have a party!!" But, my pleads were no use, they continue to taunt me all the towards the room where my party was held.
Finally, the torture ended once we all arrive at the grand stairway, which was the prime location for the party. Since the number of people who were invited was quite large, about 150 to 200 people or so, it was decided that the grand stairway, in the front entrance, was the best place to have the party since it was the biggest place in the manor.
The entire room was decorated with the usual décor like balloons and streamers. (Not exactly my taste, but I did agree to this) A few round tables were placed strategically near the walls, and the dance floor was at the center of the room. The stairway and upper decks of the room were open so there was more room for people to roam, so chairs were placed in the upper deck. The DJ, which Aunt Rose hired, was set up at the left side of the stairway. Of course, most of the doors were sealed off except for one, which happened to be the restrooms.
Once entering the room, I notice that the room was already packed with guests, but I knew there was more to come. Children ran through the dance floor and up the stairs. Adults were lounging about in the tables talking amongst themselves. Students, that my friends had invited, were standing around, in their appropriate groups.
As Aunt Rose, Sebastian, and I were descending down the stairs, I heard a voice yell over the crowd of people. "Look, the birthday girl has arrived!!!" Edward yells.
With that, everyone looks up and cheers out loud.
I respond by smiling and say, "Thank you all for coming. I hope you all enjoy yourselves, and let the party begin."
