I was about to go ask questions to Steven last night when we received news from the French people! They're coming!
Once more, I can't believe it. We heard Suzanne's voice when we didn't expect it anymore. She was clearly tired but she told us they were coming as fast as they could. Apparently, they had been arrested by some sort of Robbers - French equivalent of Robbers. I didn't understand clearly, because of the radio. I thought France was a safe place, I'm a little bit confused about that part.. Wasn't the whole point to go there to be safe? But let's be honest, I don't really care.
We described exactly what happened to Georges to Karine – turns out, she's the surgeon – and she seemed really concerned by what we were saying to her. Sebastian wanted me to go talk to Steven but I was far more interested by what was happening to the radio.
How stupid! I was wrong, obviously. Steven had a lot to say to me, which is something I only discovered this morning because I spent half of the night listening to our friends on the radio. I'm not sure I can really trust him though. Wait, let's finish about Suzanne and Karine. They're on their plane right now, they're really coming to get us and take us far from the radiations. This is a great news, especially since we don't wear our protective suits anymore, because we were out of oxygen. Apparently they won't come alone, they're five on that plane. I'm dying to meet them, we don't get to meet a lot of people in this fucking App-ocalypse!
Well, we do actually. Maybe even more than if I was at school right now. The only problem is that we spend our days and nights with the same group of people, so I sort of knew them too much. This is really not what I should be writing down here. It's not the sort of thoughts I want to reread. What I do want to have in mind though is what I learned from Steven. Because this is terrifying.
I learnt more about the App. I wasn't expecting that.
Steven was surprised to see me when he woke up this morning. He tried to flirt with me, hoping I would let him go while the other were sleeping I guess. It was something I discussed with Anton and Sebastian during the night. The best way for me to have answers would be to try and charm him while they'd pretend to be asleep in the back of the room. And it worked. Poor guy, if only he knew...
My first idea was to ask him if he knew who I was. He did. "Your name is Eliza Fedge." When I asked him how he knew my name, he didn't answer. He was speaking to me as he was a robot: "It's something I'm not allowed to discuss". I asked him what he was allowed to discuss and he answered to me we could speak about the weather if I'd like. Yeah, sure, you will charm me with an answer like that.
I questioned him a lot about Michael and about missing children, and every time his answer was still "It's something I'm not allowed to discuss". I didn't want to torture him, it wasn't the right angle. He was probably trained for that. He told me he was a real military sergeant. That was the first surprise of the day. Then I asked him about the Application and he clearly had information I didn't have. The Application was created by his superiors - and he could contact them with it.
I asked him more about his superiors. I was prepared to hear him talk about the Army or the US Government but he replied he wasn't allowed to discuss it. Of course. So I asked him directly about the US Government and he told me he was not working for them anymore. They had nothing to do with the ultimate neutral destruction application. Yep, I wrote that right.
He let go of this information as casually as if it was something I already knew and seemed to immediately regret it. HeToo late, my boy! The App that destroyed the world has a name and it was all about destruction. "Neutral destruction". What could it mean? Of course, he didn't answer. He had said too much already, I guess. Plus, he was saying the application was amazing. How can someone find that amazing?
I asked him if that meant the App was conceived to do what it did. I guess so. He did not answered and asked me to help him again. I asked him what kind of monster would make something like the Application, and above all why. He laughed at me. He laughed at me then slapped me with his mysterious answer : "You have no idea, do you? Then I'm definitely screwed".
I lose my temper and hit him. He started laughing again. His mysterious tone was too much for me. I wanted him to suffer so I hit again and again, asking him questions about what he did to Michael and why and where were all the children that were taken. How could he work for people seeking the "ultimate neutral destruction" of the world? I just can't understand.
Sebastian and Anton woke up from their false sleeping state and stopped me. It was already too late: Steven was stroking. He died in front of us. Apparently he had something in his mouth, a pill or I don't know what. I also don't know why he waited so long to eat it. It was like he was waiting to see if I was about to help him, but why on Earth would I help him?
There it is, I'm pissed off again. I should think about the arrival of Suzanne and Karine. Positive thoughts, Eliza, your nightmare is about to end.
