General Hospital Rewrite Part One

April 30th 2016

5:43 a.m.
Sam had fallen asleep on Lucas' shoulder. He'd only dosed for short periods of time, staying awake in case his dad needed him. Sam opens her eyes and looks around. "Hey." Lucas says, barely half awake. "Hey." She yawns. "How you feelin?" she asks. "Tired and worried. Alexis was with him all night, I stayed up. I couldn't sleep knowing dad was in the other room in a coma." He tells her. "The only reason I was able to fall asleep was cause I was exhausted before I got to the hospital." Sam explains. "Its okay. Dad will understand." He tells her.
Alexis walks out of Julian's room. Her eyes are red and puffy with smudged makeup wiped all around them. "Sorry, I feel asleep in the chair." she tells them, hiding the pain in her voice. "It's okay, you're his wife. He wouldn't want me and Sam to be stressing our selves. Not that he wants you to its just that we're his kids so he would think it's our job but you're his wife, I'm gonna stop talking now and go see him. Unless you wanna go first." he offers. "No, you go." she says.
Lucas nods a thanks and walks into his dad's room. He makes his way over to his dad's bedside and sits down. He rubs a bit of dried makeup off his arm. He assumed that's where Alexis fell asleep, or at least laid her head for a while. He held his dad's hand. "How am I gonna tell Alexis. She should know you got shoot too. How am I supposed to tell her. 'Sorry Alexis your husband was shoot by a hand gun at point blank range and that's why the car crashed cause he was already bleeding out.'" he mimics. "Why couldn't you have had a seizure or a heart attack like most guys around your age. That would be so much easier and less painful to explain." He adds. "Dad please, you can't die. I need you, I need you so much. You support me being gay, I just got you please don't make me lose you so soon. Plus you just got married. You don't want Alexis to be a widow. Or Leo to grow up without a dad, like I did." He remarked.
He squeezes his dad's hand before getting up and leaving. He stands for a second outside his room knowing full well he's being stared at. "Alexis, I need to talk to you." he finally says. "Okay, what about?" she asks. "Not here, this is just for you to hear. Sorry Sam." he adds. "Its okay I'll go see Dad." she says getting up and disappearing into his room.
Alexis and Lucas make their way to somewhere more private. "What'd you need to tell me?" she questions. "Its something Dr. Monroe told me. The reason Dad crashed was cause he... He was shot Alexis." he admits. "I knew something bad would happen. Lucas you know your father and I had a fight at lunch. The reason why is because he's back in the business. He said it's temporary and he has a very good reason but it was only a matter of time." she tells him.
"Oh god. If this was a mob hit than he's still in danger. Who ever did this might try again. We need to hire security or something." Lucas suggests. "I can take care of that. Your dad on the other hand, if he wakes up I'll kill him myself." she states. "You're gonna leave him aren't you?" he asks. "I want to but I can't. I haven't given him a chance to explain and he needs me now. Plus, I still love him too much." she says. "Your love is exactly what's gonna get him through this, and even if you do want to leave him Can you wait till after he's stable?" he asks. "I'm not going to leave him period. We've both made mistakes and yes he lied to me and deceived me but I've lied to him too. And some what I did might just be worse then what he did. You know, depending on how he justifies this." she tells him.
Ava makes her presence known. "I didn't mean to listen in I was going to the bathroom and I heard Lucas tell you Julian was shot. Alexis this is all my fault. I worked with Paul Hornsby and now the 'family' thinks I'm working with the police so they're threatening me. They sent a note adressed to Kiki, they're going through my kids. I told Julian just because I was scared they'd go after Kiki or Avery and he told me he'd take care of it. He stayed out for as long as he could but they gave him a choice. He takes over or I die. He feels awful about being back in and hates lying to you. He's gonna quiet again as soon as he can." she explains. "You can't be mad at him for being a protective big brother." she adds.
"No, but I can still be mad at him for lying. He could have told me." she says. "No he couldn't. Its not just the Jerome family after me its Sonny too. Sonny was the one who sent the threatening note to Kiki and left a dead bloody bird in my bed. And Sonny's had a hit out on Julian for months he just hasn't acted on it till now. They all still blame him for Dukes death and Sonny's shooting but I know who's responsible for both." she tells them.
"And who would that be?" Lucas asks. "The same man who's blackmailing me, Paul Hornsby. Now I'm not sure if he had Carlos kill Duke but I know it wasn't Julian. My brother told me he called off the hit and Carlos heard him and responded saying he was going back to the garage. He told me this almost as soon as I got back to town. The case was cold, Carlos was dead and he was out of the business. He had no reason to lie to me I wouldn't have viewed him any different even if he had wanted the hit. But Alexis he didn't. He truly is innocent and Carlos is framing him." she explains more in detail.
"I didn't know that. I thought it was Julian's last action as boss. He didn't fight me when I accused him. I assumed it was because he had done it but he was probably tired and worried about Leo. I didn't even give him an actual chance to explain himself." she admits. "Paul has a recording of me admitting to killing Connie Falconari. Avery was still little and I'd just gotten back. I didn't want to go to jail and I let Paul use me for months. He framed Julian for the shipments that went missing. He framed him for Sonny's shooting which by the way was Paul. He pulled the trigger himself. He asked me for names of people who used to work for Jules just so people would think it was him." she admits.
"None of this matters. I mean it does but as long as Julain is like this it doesn't. The courts will say all types of things about him and he cant defend himself." Alexis worries. "That won't happen." Ava declares. "How can you be sure?" Lucas asks. "Because the second they say Jules did it I'll confess to everything. Even Dukes murder, and I'll bring Paul Hornsby down with me. I'll tell everyone I framed Julian because Paul was blackmailing me, which is true. Don't worry about the truth because this is true. Julian won't spend a day in jail and I'll finally put Paul away. Carlos too. Don't worry about that witness, you'll find a way to prove he's being payed to lie." she tells her. "Ava, normally I wouldn't say this but thank you. Thank you so much for telling me the truth and taking the fall." Alexis thanks.
"Julian has put himself on the line too much for me not to do this. Just promise me one thing." Ava says. "Anything." Alexis promises. "Fight for Avery. Don't let my baby grow up with Sonny. I don't doubt he loves her but he's tried to kill both me and Julian and he's gonna keep trying. Can you and Julian fight for her?" she begs. "For what you're doing for Julian of course. Julian had wanted to fight for her after we thaught you died but he knew he'd never get custody." Alexis tells her. "I'll sign over custody as soon as Julian wakes up, or worse comes to worse." she says.
"Hey." Sam says, walking over. "How much have you heard?" her mother asks. "Uh, nothing." she tells them. "How is he?" Ava asks. "I don't know what to say. He's alive, at least that's what the little machine is saying, but he's still not awake. You should go see him, we've all seen him and he is your brother." Sam says. "Thank you Sam." she says, walking away. Sam stares at her mom and brother for a while. "Am I allowed to ask what that's about?" she asks. "It's better you don't." Lucas tells her.

12:19 p.m.
Olivia rushed over to Alexis. "Why was I not called last night?" she asks. "We haven't told that many people, we just wanted you to know that we won't be able to take Leo for a while." Alexis tells her. "You didn't think I'd want to be here and support my son's father?" she asks, slightly outraged. "You know what Olivia? I've tried to be nice but this is the last straw. You don't care about Julian. You never have. You lied to him and told him Leo wasn't his for months. You faked his baby's death and made him suffer months of grief and misery. He looked at Leo's hospital bracelet every night! Then you brought his son back to town and he had all those scars reopened and you lied to him again. You told him his beautiful son was an adopted baby then you tried to keep him from him. You've been pushing yourself into our relationship since he forgave you. You yelled at me for not telling us for not telling you we got engaged. You've just Julian so much in just a few months and now you come in here and get mad at me for not calling you sooner!" she screams.
"I'm sorry Alexis, for all the pain I've cause Julian but I'm trying to make up for it. That's why I've tried to be in his life so much. I caused his so much pain and heartbreak that I want to make it up to him by being there for him and our son. I'll leave Leo with you and I'll leave it you want me to." she offers. "Olivia wait. Sorry I yelled, you have hurt Julian and how he's forgiven you is beyond me but he has and I accept that and I should do that too. I know we worked well together suing the mayor. I just have a lot of mixed feelings about everything right now and I don't know what to do." she cries. Olivia hugs Alexis, letting her cry into her shoulder. "He might die Olivia. I don't wanna lose him." she sobs. "Hey hey hey, you aren't gonna lose him. He's strong and you two have a bond. He's not gonna go without saying goodbye to you." she soothes.
"I really hope you're right. Cause if you're not than the last thing I said to him may have been I love you but he can tell I forced it." she tells her.
"Mrs. Jerome." Dr. Monroe greets. "I just wanted to tell you that we still need to do some things with your husband. He's still in bad shape and we want to try and fix some things that are going on. None of them will wake him up but they'll make it so if he does wake up then he'll be much better off than before." He says. Alexis thanks him and he goes off the help other patients.

8:39 p.m.
Sam had gone home to Danny earlier and Lucas went home to sleep after being at the hospital for more than 24 hours straight. Olivia had taken Leo home but Alexis and Ava stayed. They discussed the custody deal. Alexis, as much as she disliked Ava, hated seeing a mother decide to give her baby to someone even if it was her brother and his wife.
Both women knew the other had many reasons to stay by his side so they kept their distance from each other. They knew Julian would be happy to see them getting along. Had he been awake.
