10:27 a.m.
Danny sits on the ground next to Leo. He pushes a toy truck to his younger uncle and Leo picks it up. "Voom." He says. Julian smiles and goes down to the ground. "Yes, trucks go vroom. Good job buddy." He congratulations, hugging his son. Leo giggles and falls onto Julian's lap.
Sam and Jason had gone for the first ultra sound today and Julian has offered babysitting duty. Olivia had dropped off Leo and it was a good chance for Julian to spend time with his son and grandson. Alexis was at the hospital, making sure Carlos didn't accidentally confess. It had felt like a lot longer than it was since Julian last spent time like this with Leo.
He winces when Leo goes to get up and pushes on his side. He takes a sharp breath and moves Leo back over to play with Danny. He rubs his side. "Grandpa, can I have a snack?" Danny asks. "Sure bud. What do you want?" he asks. "Cookies." He tells him. "Alright." He gets up and walks to the kitchen. His phone starts buzzing and he answers. "Dad, I've got such good news, Jason and I are heading over to get Danny right now, I'm so excited to tell you." She says.
"Okay well I'm gonna give Danny a cookie so you can come pick up a hyper little boy. Love you." He says hanging up. He laughs and gets a snack for Danny, heading back into the living room. "Danny, Mommy and Daddy are coming to get you." He tells him. "Wanna start picking up your toys."
"Grandpa I wanna stay and play with you and Leo." He says. "Well Grandpa wants you to stay but Mommy said she's picking you up. You know you have to listen your mom." he says. "Did you listen to your mommy?" he asks. Julian pauses. "Of course I did." He lies. "Jake says we're gonna have another brother." Danny says.
"Well, your Mommy and Daddy not know if you're gonna have a little brother or a little sister." he tells him. "But when are they gonna come home?" he asks. "Oh, not for a long time. Not for months and months." he says. "But why does it take so long?"
Julian stops, he struggles for a good answer. "Because the storks are so busy bringing babies that takes a long time. There are so many people that want babies that when your Mommy and Daddy called, they said they have to wait a while before they can have the baby. It's just how it works." He tells him. "Is that where Leo came from, the storks brought him?" Danny asks. "Yes, that's where all babies come from." He says. "So I went flying?" he asks in wonder. "Yep."
He sighs when the door opens. "Mommy, Daddy!" Danny runs up to hug them. Julian picks up Leo and walks over to greet them. "Hey Leo." Sam says, kissing her baby brother's head. She kisses her dad's cheek. "I gotta tell you the news." she says. "I'm gonna get Danny buckled up." Jason offers. "If Danny asks the storks bring babies and cause there's so many people who want babies it takes long time for them to get there."
"Alright, I'll keep that in mind." she says. "Come on tell me the news." he prompts, guessing Jason proposed. "The baby is in perfect health, and I am a lot farther along than I thought. They set my due date at December fifteenth." she tells him. "Oh Sam, this is great news. I am so happy for you." He says, hugging her. "We're gonna go pick up Jake and bring the boys to ice cream to tell them the news." she says.
"Bye bye, Leo." she touches her brother's cheek and says goodbye to her dad again. Leo giggles. "What'd you do?" he asks. "Woah, how does such a little body make such an awful smell?"12:29 p.m.
Alexis walks into the house and directly over to Leo. "Hello my little angel." she says, picking him up. "Leo's here too." Julian teases. "Oh you're here." she jokes. "I didn't know Olivia was dropping him off." she says. "Yeah, well she had a meeting or something. She heard I was home and showed up. I'm not complaining I love spending time with my littlest. Sam and Jason dropped of Danny off. They went and has an ultra sound. Sam's due mid-December." He tells her.
"That's so much better than my news." she tells him. "You've been crying." He notices. "It's nothing." she tries to convince him. "Don't lie to me baby. Please, I can't stand not being able to help you." He tells her. "I talked to Dr. Finn. He told me if I do get pregnant, it's gonna be high risk. Really high risk. He said we should expect to have another miscarriage." she says.
Julian rubs his head. "Come here." He opens his arms for her to sit with him. She sits and he wraps his arms around her and Leo. "What ever happens, I will be there for you. I will be there for our love and for our baby. If you want a baby, I will try until the day I die, if you wanna stop, we'll stop. I'm here for you. If you need a shoulder to cry on, I'll be there. If you need someone to hold you, I'll always be here. If you need someone to scream and yell at, I can take it." He tells her.
"What if we lose the baby?" she asks. "You can hang with 'What if's'." He starts. "What if Stevie hadn't meet Arthur? What if you didn't go to that bar in Hanover that night? What if you hadn't trusted me in my camaro? What if Stevie had gone to therapy instead of killing himself? What if Olivia had told me Leo was mine from the start? What if I hadn't gotten shot? What if I had gone straight home on April 29th 2002? What if I had saved my daughter? See it doesn't really matter. What ifs, they don't matter. If you can ask what if, it's already to late to change it. So what if we do lose a baby? Are we gonna keep trying for another? Are we gonna give up? I don't know, you don't know, no one knows. Don't ask what if, ask what will you do if."
She smiles through the tears. "You'll be with me every step of the way?" she asks. "Through sickness and in health. Through thick and thin, through good times and bad. I will always be right there by your side." He promises. She goes to kiss him but her phone rings, interrupting them and ruining the mood. "It's work." she says, answering. "Wait what?... Are you sure?... Yeah I understand... What happened?... We're gonna open an investigation right?... You're sure it's him?... So the case is closed?... You're positive this was the work of the hospital killer?... Okay, yeah I'll take care. You too." she hangs up.
"What's wrong?" Julian asks. "Carlos is dead. It was the hospital killer." she tells him. His heart races, he was innocent but what if someone assumed he'd done this? He couldn't risk losing everything he worked so hard for. "Do they know this was the real hospital killer?" Julian asks. "Or are we gonna get a call from Jordon?"
"No, we know you had nothing to do with this. Unless you're the hospital killer which is impossible cause he killed someone while you were in a coma. I know you're legit, I trust you." she tells him. "I've worked so hard to be able to have a normal life, I wouldn't do something as stupid and illegal as kill Carlos." he tells her. "I know that. Julian you're changed, for the better. You're more emotional, you're more open to letting people see how you really feel. You're an open book now."
He shifts in his seat, giving a small grunt as he moves. "Are you okay?" she asks. "Yeah, my side's bugging me." He says. "Are your pain meds not working?" she asks. "I didn't take any." He says. "Why not?" she demands. "I wanna leave this stupid injury in the past. I wanna leave the mob and the violence in the past. I want it out of my life, so I can start a new chapter with you." He tells her. "Perfect." she smiles.
"I don't know about you but I can go for some lunch, want me to go make something?" he asks. "Lovely, what's on the menu, chef Jerome?" she asks. "Well," he starts in an outrageous French accent, "I was thinking some left overs, heated in the microwave with some lovely lemonade." he says, laughing at the end.
Leo starts to whine. "Leo's hungry too." Alexis tells him. "Well I'd better stop doing silly voices and make lunch." He says, kissing Alexis' cheek and Leo's head.I know it's short but it'll do for now. The next chapter will take place a few days or so after this one but I'll get it out asap. I really hope you're enjoying what I've written so far. I've devoted so much of my time to this and I'm still working on my writing skills so it means so much that people are liking and commenting. It feels surreal that people are actually liking something I'm writing and it's just an honor. Thank you all so much. I wouldn't have written this much without you guy's support. <3
